Could you imagine being abused and found on the streets, and denied a loving home only because another is more attractive than? This is the harsh reality for some animals in shelters. Many dogs and cats are found ill-treated and sick from previous conditions such as negligent owners or not even having a home. While this seems horrific, it is even worse for other animals. A large number of pets in shelters are sometimes euthanized and deprived of companionship because of age or health. These animals are sometimes killed because there is not enough room for them because of an influx of more strays coming in. Stray animals in general are treated unethically; however, they deserve a loving and nurturing home. Instead of shelter animals being adopted, people often opt for more “attractive” pets like pure-breeds. This idea is outlandish because some animals are denied happiness since another is better looking.
