Persuasive Essay On Arctic Ice And Glacierss
Global warming has always been a problem for humans. In the past 650,000 years, According to NASA, Earth’s average temperature has risen 1.7 degrees fahrenheit since 1880 (Global Climate Change). In fact, January of 2017 has been the third warmest ever recorded. More funding should go into helping global climate change because rising sea levels are dangering the land, there is a major decrease in arctic ice, and rising temperatures are causing more animal species to go on the endangered list.

Some may argue that ice and glaciers have been growing and receding for hundreds of years, but they will always grow back again. However, for the past 100 years though, arctic ice and glaciers have been decreasing at an alarmingly fast rate. Glaciers have slowly been getting smaller and smaller since the 1960s and has been decreasing at a faster speed over the past 10 years. The rising ocean level has been a major consequent of the ice melting (Climate Change Indicators: Snow and Ice). NASA stated recently, “September Arctic sea ice is now declining at a rate of 13.3 percent per decade, relative to the 1981 to 2010 average” (Global Climate Change). The constantly warming atmosphere is causing ice to melt and bringing

If we don’t do anything about this soon, the planet we call home could turn to chaos. If we fund money and time into helping our environment and various climates by being more energy efficient, we can make a difference. I urge you to spend just a little more time and money into helping slow global warming down by conserving water, planting more trees, recycling and reducing your waste. Also, scale down on your use of fossil fuels and other malignant toxins that are heating our atmosphere. By doing this, we will be able to bring climate change to an

Through the research I’ve done on global warming it appears to me that there is no problem with it at all, and that there is nothing to worry about. We need to accept that fact that global warming is actually helping the human race in many different ways. For examples the environment is warming up, the ocean levels are rising, and the increase of carbon dioxide are all benefits to the environment and economy. It’s almost as if global warming is turning the earth into a tropical paradise.…

Did you know that by our everyday habits and choices, the average American puts out 22 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year? Experts studying the recent climate history of the earth agree now that global warming is occurring at a precipitous rate, and human activities are the dominant force driving the trend. Our smokestacks, tailpipes, and burning forests emit CO2 and other gasses that add to the planet’s natural greenhouse effect, allowing sunlight in, but preventing some of the resulting heat from radiating back to space. Many climate experts say that without big curbs in greenhouse gas emissions, the 21st century could see temperatures rise 3 to 8 degrees, weather patterns sharply shift, ice sheets shrink, and seas rise several feet. The problem of global warming seems overwhelming, but there is a lot you can do to help. Reducing your personal share of global warming emissions is easier than you think.…

Because of the climate change, the earth is in danger. People don’t realize that the things they use or do every day are hurting the earth and living things. Nature.org says, “…one-fourth of Earth’s species will be headed for extinction by 2050 if the warming trend continues at its current rate…” Because the temperature is increasing, ice is melting. Because ice is melting, sea levels are rising. Higher temperatures don’t only melt ice but evaporates the moisture in the air. Evaporation will take away all of the land’s water leaving it as dry as a desert. With a drought now in progress, it will make it harder to find water and support agriculture.…

Global warming, also known as the green house effect is a topic that has received much attention in recent years; yet our climate change is not a recent problem. It has been morphing over many years. What is increasing is the rate of change; it is accelerating due to the growth of the human population. The growth of our population has increased our use of fuel, land, and manufacturing. All of these are increasing emissions into our atmosphere that increases global warming.…

Global Warming is an important ecological issue and has many negative effects upon our environment. However, for all the attention that this issue does not draw, that is how dire it is growing to be. There are many problems that are causing global warming, and if they are not corrected, or at least prevented from here on out, there are going to be some severe complications in the near future. Greenhouse holes in the ozone layer and the decay of the atmosphere are just a few of the problems that need to be, at the very least, understood by the general community.…

However, to every problem, there is a solution. Firstly, scientists at Oak Ridge Laboratory in Tennessee have figured a way to convert carbon dioxide into ethanol. Ethanol is a harmless fuel that is used in cars in order for their movement. To add, this process is not expensive and can be applied to many nuclear power plants. This change could avert the crisis in a great way. Secondly, the common people could make a change to help avert climate change. One idea is to plant numerous trees. Trees can take in carbon dioxide for it’s own needs and releases oxygen so that our air can be a little cleaner. Secondly, recycling can help because the recycled items take less energy to manufacture. Thirdly, turning off the water when not in use can help the cause to avert climate change as well as fixing leaky faucets or broken toilets. To sum up, global warming can be averted in non-expensive…

Global warming to some individuals is something fake that others say. However, global warming is a threat to us. Most people think of this as a scientific fantasy, but it can be a huge danger for later generations. We can’t be egocentric and only think about us. Global warming isn’t only effecting us, but it’s also effecting animals. Some species might even go extinct because of global warming. We need to do something to prevent or at best slow the process down a bit. I believe it’s vital that we try to prevent because if the oceans keep rising they will take up the land we live. We need to invent technologies that can help us survive this; some countries such as Netherlands have done that. Preventing climate change will be difficult, but it’s…

Global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today. It is already affecting the world as we know it; endangering polar bears, shortening ski seasons and creating more intense storms. Global warming is caused by the build-up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, hence increasing the average temperature of the earth. Scientists have stated that the average temperature will likely rise a further 1 to 6 °C still during the 21st century.…

Global warming is a term on the lips of many people these days. Just what is global warming? Should people be worried? What can be done to stop global warming? Should it be stopped or ignored? These are just some of the questions that make up the current debate in the topic of climate change and its effect on life on Earth now and in the future. First of all, a definition: Global warming is a perceived increase in temperature around the world. Weather trackers and forecasters keep tabs on temperatures all round the world, every day of the year. These geographers and scientists determine the average temperature for a place or a region, a country, or a continent. Putting all those figures together can give people an average worldwide temperature. And it is that average worldwide temperature that weather-watchers say is now increasing. Some people would say that the temperature is increasing at an alarming level. What is certainly true is that the increases in…

Global warming is the major concern that we are facing right now. The continued rise in the global temperature will lead us again to another resulting factor, the climate change. There have been a lot of question if what really causing the climate change. Skeptics are voicing out their opinions, saying that it’s just due to natural variability, that Mother Earth has its own agenda in warming the earth. But I would certainly disagree to that. There is stronger evidence that most of the warming over the last 50 years is due to human activities. Ice cores taken from deep in ancient ice of Antarctica show that carbon dioxide levels are higher now than at any time in the past thousand years. This carbon dioxide plays the major role in…
