Although people wouldn’t want to pay a higher amount for sugary foods, it would help the economy a great deal. People who can’t live without those foods are going to assumably still pay the raised prices. There could be a variety of positive uses for this money. This could cause many new and advanced ideas to be brought about and put into action. This happening could cause so many positive effects, “If the government raised 2 billion a year from a tax, this tax, this tax could be used to subsidise healthy foods, pay for health care or reduce other types of taxes,” (economicshelps.org). The extra money could be used to focus more directly on means to make everyone healthier. The economy needs this money from the tax so change can start to happen, and issues can be funded for.

People would say that it, “..punishes corporations that have a popular product deemed unhealthy by the government,” (Riddix 1). Corporations would lose a great deal of money and customers. Though, how it is that type of situation already happens. They will always run into problems, lose money, and customers. It’s how the business world operates.
