The legalization of marijuana could not only help create jobs, but end our countries debt crisis.
Medical marijuana is already legal in many states and many more are trying to get this passed. It has been proven that marijuana can help people who have glaucoma and cancer patients. Many people that I know smoke marijuana. All of these people are functioning adults. They go to work every day, have children, own their homes and have great credit. They smoke after work and on the weekends. This is not the stereotype of marijuana smokers, but it seems to be more normal than not. I smoked at a younger age for a little while but getting older and having children, decided that it was not for me. I do not have issues with people who smoke as long as it does not harm anyone and they are responsible with it and it is not given to children. My feelings about marijuana are no different than how I feel about alcohol.
There are thousands of drunken driving accidents in this country every day. There are fights that break out because people have had too much to drink. If a little research is done it would be discovered that they have been no fatalities from just marijuana use. People who smoke marijuana are typically very laid back and not aggressive at all. There are many stereotypes for people who smoke marijuana but none of them are

What many people do not understand about marijuana is that it is a safe drug and not all drugs are bad drugs. “Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose.” (NORML, 2015). Marijuana comes in third behind alcohol and tobacco as the most popular recreational drugs. There has never been a death due to marijuana due to the fact that is is nearly impossible to overdose and it is “nontoxic”. It is very confusing to many people as to why this drug is illegal when looking at how safe it is compared to things like alcohol and tobacco…

Marijuana should be legalized. That is the decision everyone in our group has come to. We believe the pros of marijuana use greatly outnumber the cons, and that the government needs to realize that. Defending either side of this argument is actually quite difficult. Any studies that you may find can be disproven by studies performed from the opposition and vice versa. Still, we have not found anything that has even came close to changing our opinions.…

Marijuana, an herb with over two hundred common names including weed, pot, and bud, is a mixture of green and brown dried shredded leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. Marijuana may be used for recreational and medical use as a psychoactive substance. It contains a chemical called THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). When marijuana smoke is inhaled, THC passes through the lungs, bloodstream, and other organs in the body, including the brain. Marijuana has many benefits that general Americans are unaware of, and with this in mind, marijuana should be legalized. There are several reasons for this. First marijuana should be legal due to its helpfulness in treating cancer patients and chronic diseases. Secondly, there is no reason why alcohol and cigarettes should be legal and marijuana should not be. Finally, marijuana does not cause physical addiction.…

Marijuana was first used for medicinal purposes dating back as early as the 1600’s. However, a law was passed in 1930, which banned the substance. Since then we have been fighting a never-ending war on drugs that has estimated to be over a trillion dollar failure, and we have nothing to show for it. There are many different takes on legalizing marijuana nation-wide but some states are not convinced yet. There are two main views on legalizing cannabis. One is the government view, which believes if marijuana was taxed like alcohol and tobacco it could yield close to 50 billion in tax revenue annually. Along with this, legalizing the drug would save the U.S. about $41 billion a year in enforcing the drug laws, and using that for education and health. The other view would be the medicinal use side of it. Proponents of medical marijuana argue that it can be a safe and effective treatment for the symptoms of cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, pain, glaucoma, epilepsy, and other conditions. The government should legalize marijuana for recreational and medical use because it will create tax revenue, help patients, and we will be done fighting an everlasting war.…

Marijuana has been illegal since 1937. The Marijuana Tax Act, enforced because people believe men of color would solicit sex from white women while under the influence of marijuana. According to multiple tests and the statistics more people have died from cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana should be legal due to the shear fact that it is safer than alcohol and cigarettes. Marijuana to this day, after 79 years, in some places is still illegal and believed to be more dangerous than cigarettes. This myth is 100% false. About 6 million people die every year from smoking cigarettes including second hand smoke. Statistics show that by 2030 the annual death rate will be 8 million. compare this to virtually nobody dying from a direct cause of Marijuana smoking the numbers are gradually in favor of Marijuana being safer. In fact it takes a consumption of 15 pounds of Marijuana in 15 minutes to “overdose”, which still may not even be fatal. In the film Super High Me,…

There are negative effects of marijuana which is why it was considered an illegal drug in the first place. “Long-term use has been associated with increased cardiovascular events, addiction, mental health disorders, and respiratory disorders similar to those associated with tobacco smoking (Marcoux, 2013).” Tobacco use has been legal for anyone over the age of 18 however today there are less and less users because of the side effects of pollution and…

Marijuana is not as dangerous of a drug as some others that are available on the market for treating diseases. I personally know a friend whose family member was prescribed highly addictive painkillers after a back surgery. He then became addicted to them and was constantly having “accidents” that would end him up in the hospital just to get that feeling he was looking for, he even went as far as to crash his car into a tree resulting in his death. I believe that marijuana should become completely legal and be regulated just like tobacco. In other countries you can go to coffee shops and purchase marijuana and products that contain THC the chemical in marijuana that makes you feel high. I believe that like alcohol and tobacco marijuana can be one of those drugs that is easily taxed and generate a large amount of revenue for our government. Also it would save the government billions since many people less people would be going to jail for marijuana lessening the amount of money spent on these people in prison and the many other legal fees that come with prosecuting and detaining people. Many people in Colorado voted for the legalization of recreational marijuana because they said that about half of the money generated by it will go toward public schools (Legalizing). The effects of marijuana are less detrimental than alcohol in the temporary and lasting…
