Safety is critical for everyone. When the roads are icy and slick because of the cold winter weather, there should not be school. For high schoolers that are just getting their licence and have not been driving for very long, it is not good if they drive to school. High school driver’s are not the best drivers and especially on roads with icy conditions, anything can happen at any time. A car crash does not have to be their fault either. If a school has a snow day, they are expected to make that day of school up, so either way you will still have the same amount of days in the school year. There are many students that need to get to school and probably cannot have a snow day because they are so busy. Finals are really soon and if the school had a snow day tomorrow, people would probably be really mad because they need to make sure that they are prepared for finals and know all the information that they need to know. Students need to go to school and especially if they have a big test or presentation coming up that they need to work on and be there with their teachers before the deadline so if they have any questions or concerns they can bring that to their teacher. However, students who stay home while school is in session are a much larger problem than snow days. These students are missing out on their work while all their other classmates are continuing their work. The students that miss school while school is in session do not have as many days in the school year as everyone else because they do not have to make those days up. With a snow there is still the same amount of days in the year so it really is not that big of a problem, it just depends on what is going on in the moment at the school. The problem is making up the days and how they are going to do it. It could possibly take a day out of your summer or a three day weekend that everyone
