Persuasive Essay On Snow Day
Schools should close school if they need to for a snow day because the safety of everyone is important, it really does not do that much of a harm for student achievement, and it gives students and teachers a day to do whatever they want.
Safety is critical for everyone. When the roads are icy and slick because of the cold winter weather, there should not be school. For high schoolers that are just getting their licence and have not been driving for very long, it is not good if they drive to school. High school driver’s are not the best drivers and especially on roads with icy conditions, anything can happen at any time. A car crash does not have to be their fault either. It could be someone’s car slid and hit them head on. High schoolers think

If a school has a snow day, they are expected to make that day of school up, so either way you will still have the same amount of days in the school year. There are many students that need to get to school and probably cannot have a snow day because they are so busy. Finals are really soon and if the school had a snow day tomorrow, people would probably be really mad because they need to make sure that they are prepared for finals and know all the information that they need to know. Students need to go to school and especially if they have a big test or presentation coming up that they need to work on and be there with their teachers before the deadline so if they have any questions or concerns they can bring that to their teacher. However, students who stay home while school is in session are a much larger problem than snow days. These students are missing out on their work while all their other classmates are continuing their work. The students that miss school while school is in session do not have as many days in the school year as everyone else because they do not have to make those days up. With a snow there is still the same amount of days in the year so it really is not that big of a problem, it just depends on what is going on in the moment at the school. The problem is making up the days and how they are going to do it. It could possibly take a day out of your summer or a three day weekend that everyone

If there is a busy schedule between both parents during the day, Fridays off for students will help parents work and not worry about their kids if their kids were to go to a family member's house or sleep over a friend's house. Parents will save money if students go to their family or friends house instead of the parents hiring a baby sitter. A four day school week may come in handy if you have the entire Friday off to schedule appointments with doctors or dentists. If there was a Friday a student was taken out of school to go to the dentist, but the dentist was packed, he would be late to go back to school. Four day school weeks may alter that a little, say on a normal Friday, that the dentist would be full of students, but if there was no school on Friday, then there would be any line to wait in, and no rush to get back to school before school is over. The other upside of having Fridays off is that parents can do errands with out interruptions. If students have Fridays off, they can go to a friend's house so that their parents can run errands without interruption. According to Jami Dow, a mother who moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota ( a district that has a four day school week) three years ago to be closer to her parents, said, "Many families use the extra day to schedule doctor and dentist…

After all, most high school students are underage. This means that their parents are still their guardians, and therefore should be able to protect their child from whatever they see fit. However, many students often show more maturity than adults expect of them. The average high school student gets his or her driver's’ license at some point during his or her sophomore year. The ability to drive is an immense, and dangerous, responsibility, as countless potentially fatal mistakes can be made while driving, yet teenagers are trusted with this responsibility. Therefore, if students are trusted with driving, then they should be trusted to be able to choose what to…

Schools should end later. From my personal experience, I usually end school and then have hours of extra curricular activities, because I am a dancer. This limits my time that I am able to spend on homework, and causes me to stress out. Also, it forces me to go to bed later and not get enough sleep for a growing teen. If school ended earlier I would be able to finish my homework earlier and get to go to bed earlier which would enable me to then get more sleep. Finally, I would get to spend more time with family. I am always rushing home from school, right to my homework and then off to dance, and then back home for homework. I never get to talk to my family and tell them about my day.…

High school student will also have problems with earning money by working doing school. If that the case schools should have a type of program where students can earn money if school becomes year round. Because students will face problems trying to work doing the summer since they will not have the entire summer off and will only be off in short breaks throughout the year. Although schools will save with year round there are other problems schools will face. During year- round school maintenance departments would use the extended period without students and teachers to make major repairs, changes in the maintenance of some buildings.…

Having a four day school week would also benefit the teachers too. It would benefit them by giving them more time to correct papers and put grades in the gradebook. That would also mean the teachers would have an extra day to be with their families, instead of staying at home and grading papers so they don’t fall behind on their grades, especially if…

In NASA, the Mars science lab rover is acknowledged, over a budget at 2.5 billion dollars. Although Obama’s Fiscal plan for 2013 would incise NASA’s funds from 587 million dollars to 360 million dollars, no quantity of money is worth Mars exploration. Mars is still merely a rocky surface in the midst of no indication of water or active geology. Space exploration is exceptionally expensive to the citizens of the United States; the government could unquestionably use this money to better the country where the people live. Exploration costs millions of dollars which is completely unnecessary to provide the NASA space program.…

The school board should not extend the school day because it cost more money for the school, it interferes with after school activities, and you also have to go home later. The reason why it would cost more money is because it's more electricity. Another reason it would cost more money is because it's more food they have to pay for. The last reason is is they have to pay more workers.…

Furthermore, driving to school can be extremely risky to one’s life. Several things can happen on that journey to school. For example, a buddy of mine, Tim, got into a fender bender at 10 mph. He came out with a fractured spine and a broken leg. Thank goodness he was wearing his seat belt! His parents were panicking and highly stressed. Had he been riding with his parents, this whole scene might have all been avoided. “Better safe than sorry.”…

Water is necessary for life to survive. About 3/4s of the Earth’s surface is populated with water. Despite how much water there is on Earth we cannot use all of it. Ocean water is contaminated with many items that aren’t edible to humans. There are water filters that will remove most of these contaminants but, they are usually pricey. In the West Coast of America, we live next to the Pacific Ocean which contains most of the water on Earth. Why are we in a drought despite promising facts? The reason is despite an abundance of water on Earth, we have access to merely one per cent of all the water on the Earth’s surface. The rest of the freshwater is hidden in ice caps or somewhere deep underground. The remaining salt water which is 97.5% of the water on Earth can have the salt removed but, the process is costly and challenging.…
