Four day school weeks would be very beneficial in many different ways. The first is not having to worry about missing school days if they were planning on doing something fun with their families. Some kids start to get worried about having to miss school when they go on a trip with their families, and it would also mean that they wouldn’t have to make up homework for missing school that day. Having a four day school week would also benefit the teachers too. It would benefit them by giving them more time to correct papers and put grades in the gradebook. On the other hand, Critics believe that students should be spending more days in school rather than fewer. In fact, in the United States of America many states require school to be in session for a minimum of 180 days, which is almost three weeks less than other developed countries in Europe and Asia. For instance, China and Korea have more than 220 school days (Kingsbury). However, a four day school week will not reduce the time spent in school. It will redistribute the time going to school into four days instead of five days. Therefore the school days will be longer in a four day school week to encompass the correct amount of hours required.…

Some people claim that it will raise scores because of the idea students will be more attentive in school, thus increasing their intellect. Similar to Beesley and Anderson 's suggestion, it seems that schools save money while maintaining comparable test scores. (The Four-Day School Week: Information and Recommendations, pg. 26). Overall, it seems as though the benefits of a four-day school week are strong enough for it to pull through despite the fact it doesn 't dramatically increase test…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

I think that starting the school day later would greatly benefit the students and teachers. if we started school at about say nine thirty in the morning instead of eight thirty or earlier, that would mean that most students wouldn't need to be awake in the morning till almost seven thirty to eight thirty and some kids could even wake up a little later then that depending on where they live. granite it is proven that high school students only need six to eight hours of sleep each night but there is always that few that never get the six to eight hours of sleep.…

Should public schools be scheduled to be opened all year round? Students would hopefully approve. Public schools should have a system where schools shall be open for a short while, and it shall gain extended normal weekends. Year-round schooling has many beneficial advantages to schools who don’t have this. To start off, “students would have a higher chance of remembering what they were taught” (Scherman). In addition, students will have a positive attitude when going to school. Lastly, having frequent breaks will allow the students’ and the teacher’s mindset to recharge or to cool off.…

If they were to change the traditional school schedule, it would be a lot of confusion especially for parents that have to worry about getting their child to school. It would also cost our country a lot of money to switch the traditional school schedule. By eliminating summer break, students would not be able to experience the joy and freedom of the summer and the special time that would usually be spent with family and friends. Then when everyone goes back to school, they reunite with their friends from the last year or meet new people. If you take away a student's ability to have a vacation you increase the risk of…

Overall, schools should definitely not have four day weeks. With extra school days, more accidents, and more junk food, it is generally a bad idea. If your school board is thinking about putting this into action, make sure your classmates and the school board know the risks. I predict that four day weeks would only make children and parents angry. Always know what you are getting yourself into and always study the…
