First off, the government requires you to attend school a certain amount of time a day and a certain amount of time a year. With five day weeks and normal hours, we go to school thirty-six weeks a year for about seven and a half hours a day. Children would most likely lay around. More junk food would be consumed due to kids not knowing or wanting to cook meals. It sounds nice to just be able to lay around, but isn’t the two day weekend enough? I think even if it were to happen, which it shouldn’t, parents would have to probably put exercise regimens into order or cameras in the house.
However, there are some people who would actually want this. They argue that it would allow more time for homework and relaxing. Trust me, kids barely do their homework now, so they would leave it all until the free day and then the day would be spent on homework. There would be more time for bad internet use, not studying! Most people who think that there should be 4 days do not think about the consequences.
Overall, schools should definitely not have four day weeks. With extra school days, more accidents, and more junk food, it is generally a bad idea. If your school board is thinking about putting this into action, make sure your classmates and the school board know the risks.
