Persuasive Essay On Texting And Driving

Over 5000 innocent people are mamed, paralysed, horrifically injured or killed from using phones while driving each year. This could be the result of one little text they send or receive when behind the wheel. I have been an ambulance officer for 20 years and every day I experience families being torn and ripped apart, a mother and father losing their only child, kids that will never get to experience all the great things that life has to offer because of a few words they receive through a text or phone call. I very strongly believe that texting while driving must be banned and as part of getting your licence you must attend a training course which outlines the risk of using a mobile phone while driving because it can cause families deep sadness, the injuries pedestrians and other drivers encounter and texting while driving is extremely dangerous.
To begin, the result of texting while driving can cause families and friends deep sadness. Imagine being the driver and your best friend was a passenger in the car with you when suddenly your phone goes off and you look away from the road for just a few seconds, the next thing you see is your best friend hanging dead out the front of your windscreen, blood everywhere, their arms twisted and mangled how would you
feel knowing it’s all your fault? That you were the one that looked away from the road for those few seconds, that is what killed your best friend.
For my next point, pedestrians and other drivers could encounter horrific, horrendous, horrible injuries that could be life threatening due to other drivers using their phones while driving.
For these innocent people that did absolutely nothing wrong to be hurt and in pain is dreadful and must be stopped and that’s why it is vital that before getting your licence I believe you should be made to take a course outlining the risk of texting and driving. By doing this it would show drivers what could happen if you take your eyes off the road for even a second to check your phone and what a traumatizing experience it is to be rushed though hospital on a stretcher in excruciating pain by an ambulance driver like
me
For my final point, texting while driving is extremely dangerous. Have you ever considered reading a book while driving? If not then why would you text and drive? Driving is something that requires your full attention and distractions like mobile phones shouldn’t be allowed in cars because they are a danger to yourself and others. Texting while driving makes crashing up to 23 times more likely therefore why do it?
In conclusion texting while driving must be banned because of the heartbreak families are put through, the horrible injuries and it is extremely dangerous.
