Equality has continuously been a problem for people of all genders and race around the world. Especially women, they have encountered many obstacles throughout history, today one of those obstacles is dealing with athletes. Professional female athletes do not get enough credit and recognition when it comes to their profession; they should be treated and paid equally compared to the men. Stereotypically, men’s sports are much more popular than the women’s game, across all sports. Now that may have been the case ten years ago, however after having the Women’s World Cup this past summer, millions of people have engaged in the women’s side of soccer. On the NPR, they stated, “U.S. women shatter tv ratings record for soccer with World Cup win.” (U.S. Women Shatter [...]). Later in the article they stated that the game had 22.86 million viewers by the end of the game; this game, “shattered viewing records for soccer in the U.S. - played by men or women,” (U.S. Women Shatter [...]).People
This could have been true, however, this was not the case. During the World Cup, players from around the world gained fans and supporters; many became dedicated to their players. Once the World Cup was over, the players returned to their club teams in the NWSL, National Women’s Soccer League; this is where their fans can continue to watch and support their favorite players. Not only the players from the USWNT, but also players from different national teams play in the NWSL. So you can watch them play every year; you won’t have to wait every four years. Many people did not know that the NWSL had existed until the World Cup, because these players began promoting not only themselves, but the league as well. In order to keep their league alive, they needed more
