Thai Beverage Public Company Limited (ThaiBev) was established in 2003, they produce a wide range of beer and spirits in Thailand. ThaiBev is Thailand’s largest beverage company and one of the largest beverage players in Asia. Chang one of their beer products currently holds a 40% of their domestic market and ThaiBev holds 80% of the spirits market.ThaiBev owns 26% of Fraser and Neave (F&N) a singapore beverage company, to pave their international expansion. The chairman of ThaiBev is Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, his wife vice chairman Khunying Wanna, and their son, board member Thapana, along with other family members, control about 50% of the company. Just recently in 31 october 2016, the King of Thailand died and the country went under a period of mourning. The King of Thailand had much influence over the country during his rule and considered a revered King to the people of Thailand but the crown prince does not command the same popularity his father enjoyed over the years. There has been concerns about the political stability of the country since the King’s passing, I anticipate the possibility of a political unrest . The beliefs and values of Buddhism plays a big part in their day to day life. The key values that they impart in their daily life are respecting others, self-control and a positive attitude. They also value family and considered to have a more conservative mindset. Using the Hofstede Model on the culture of Thailand and compared to Singapore, we can see the two key difference is uncertainty avoidance and long term orientation between the countries.
