Physical factors that affect growth and development include illness/disease, physical activity, diet, appearance and genetic inheritance. These would affect the growth and development of a person because if the person has a life reducing or very bad illness, it would affect them as often the treatment could be energy draining or cause changes in appearance. These could all affect the growth and development as losses could have a massive impact on emotional stability and socially, the victim could feel isolated and therefore possibly could lead the person to sever ties with friends and colleagues. Religion would affect a person because they might have to stick to a particular diet or have to do particular rituals or practices. This might affect the person’s social life because they might not be able to go out due to having go carry out these rituals. Some religions require you to wear specific clothes or present yourself a certain way and this may lead to people discriminating against them which would lower their self-esteem. Education would affect a person’s growth and development because if they grew up in a posh area and went to a private school, the person would most likely have received a better education than a person who attended a public school in a rough area.
