Oklahom Should Teachers Be Paid More?

There is a teacher shortage in the United States but especially in Oklahoma. Teachers have been receiving harsh pay cuts in the state of Oklahoma. This resulted in fewer staff to help schools teach the youth. There are more teachers that leave to another state because of the salary cuts every day. My younger niece has had three teachers this year because the faculty keeps leaving to live a life where they do not have to struggle financially. Teachers should get a bigger salary in Oklahoma because they are a big part of the development of the youth and there will be less educated people. One reason that teachers should be paid more is that they are a big part of the youth's development. Every teacher ever at a school affects a child's life
somehow. Children and teenagers remember most of their teachers because the teacher's job is to teach their students how to do certain things. Teachers are building the society in a way because they are a trusted adult that the children should see as a role model. If teachers are the main development of the youth then why is the job not taken more serious. However, the teachers are being paid the same as plumbers. Eventually, there will be not enough teachers if these salary cuts keep going and the teachers will be worse and inexperienced. Being a teacher is going to be easier because of the problem. This will eliminate the lack of teachers, but they are going to be the worst teachers because they are not as educated as the teachers in the past. Another reason that teachers should be paid more is that if there are fewer teachers then the education will get lowered.
If this happens then the society will be Neanderthals and will be troublesome to others. Oklahoma is the second lowest paying for teachers just over six hundred dollars. This is why people study to be teachers in Oklahoma then they move to Texas to get a bigger salary. Oklahoma is a state that is seen as uneducated because of our background being cowboys and this will prove the stereotype more. Oklahoma is making it easier for people to become teachers to fix this problem but they are most likely no qualified and do a horrible job. After that the education gets lower people get more obnoxious and they do not know what is right or wrong. This will make crime higher because of gullible people. Also, people who are trying to get an education for their future career will be bad at there job since it is easier to be a teacher. Even if college teachers may not be affected high school teachers will. Having bad teachers during high school will mean the students will not be prepared for college. This will increase the number of college dropouts because of how hard it seems to a student that has had an easy high school
life. People say that there is not enough money to be used for education in Oklahoma. This may be true but there has to be money somewhere that we are not looking for. There are more budget cuts than money coming in. Having the lottery pay for some of the education's budget is not enough. At least the government could talk about the situation to the public and try to raise money with bake sales or something similar to that. The state could ask for help from companies and local businesses to help, doing something is better than doing nothing. Oklahoma could increase funding towards education and take a little money from Medicaid and public safety.
In conclusion, if we do not change the way we see education we will be what other people think of us. If we do change funding kids will get smarter and it will most likely lower the crime rate. When we take money from overfunded things and put it towards education the money should motivate good teachers to stay rather than leaving to another state. Oklahoma can change and when it does there will be more teachers in Oklahoma.
