According to the Egyptians, when you die the heart of your soul is weighed. The heart of your soul is called Ka. Ka represents individuality. On one side of the scale that weighs your Ka there is a feather, on the other side is your Ka. If your Ka is lighter than the feather then you can go to the underworld. If your Ka is heavier than the feather, than you can’t go to the underworld. Instead Ammit, a goddess that is part lion, part hippo, part crocodile, slurps you up and kills you.
