Phases Of The Moon Case Study
1. You are to describe the phases of the moon and what they mean magickally. There are six phases of the moon. The first phase of the moon that we can see is the New Moon. This phase shows us just the narrowest crescent of the moon. It is the time for new beginnings. Magickally, it is good for increasing types of spells, whether it is for love, money, or business ventures. Basically anything that you want to increase, so it would NOT be a time to ask for more bills, or a bill reduction. Instead ask for an income increase. (Please pardon my sense of humor, if it offends.)
The next phase of the moon is the Waxing. This is where you can see the moon getting bigger but it is not full yet. From the time of the moon showing halfway to

What is appropriate for spell and ritual work for each phase and why is it appropriate? New Moon is for beginnings and increase type spells. The Waxing moon is also for increasing spells and healing type spells. These are spells that can last days and each day increases and so does the power of the moon. The full moon is a time for celebration and the energy is balanced. During the waning moon is where you work with things you want to decrease. You want to do a healing to get rid of illness for example. Or do a house cleansing to get rid of negative energy. The crying moon is where you get rid of the emotional baggage and bring things to an abrupt end, such as unhealthy relationships. In the dark moon, this is where you get rid of things such as addictions or something of a serious threat. It is also the time to deal with curses.

3. Why is each full moon given its own name? Each culture gave names to the full moons, some of them were based on obvious characteristics such as February being the Snow Moon. And December being the Cold Moon. The exception to the names being re-occurring by month is the Harvest Moon. The Harvest Moon is the name of the moon closest to Autumn Equinox, usually in September but every three years happens in October. Another reason for the names were so that everyone in that region would know what time of year something

As the director and dramaturge for a fully mounted production of, Ruby Moon by Matt Cameron for a festival with a focus on Australian society I must select a relevant scene for an audience to promote the entire play. Ruby Moon was written in 2003 by Matt Cameron (1969), a Melbourne playwright who was heavily “influenced by headlines in the newspaper” regarding missing children which sparked many of his plot lines. His plays, in particular Ruby Moon, comment on the notion of a decimated community where there is no longer any communication between neighbours and how the suburbs are now deemed as unsafe and frightening. This is the paradox of Flaming Tree Grove, the street where Ruby Moon sets off to visit her grandmothers and is never seen again.…

At this time the high tides are higher than normal and the low tides are lower thn normal. This is known as a spring tide. Spring tides are especially strong tides (but they do not have anything to do with the season Spring). They occur when the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon are in a line. The gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun both, make the tides much stronger. During the moon's quarter phases the sun and moon work at right angles causing the bulges to cancel each other out. As a result there is a much smaller difference between high and low tides and is known as a neap tide. Neap tides are very weak tides. They occur when the gravitational forces of the Moon and the Sun are perpendicular to one…

Our Planet Hunter Team from Lick Observatory possibly found a new planet. We are an observatory owned by the University of California and focus on astronomical observations. This Object X (to be determined as a planet) it does not seem to be a round-shape form, orbits the sun, Object X’s moon is 57,783 kilometers between Object X, Object X’s moon takes 32.17 days to do one full orbit, and crosses Pluto. These factors of Object X have similar factors of an actual planet. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) explains a planet must orbit the sun, has enough mass to be nearly-round shape due to gravity, and has a clear neighborhood around the object’s orbit. Our team will use Kepler’s Third Law (an equation used by using the information…

2013 brought us a new take on the Play “Much Ado about Nothing” by William Shakespeare. The new film was adapted, produced and directed by Joss Whedon who also created the Buffy the Vampire movie along with it’s series. “Much Ado” unlike the Kenneth Branagh Version is set in Modern Day along with a black and white indie film look to it. The film sticks to the language of William Shakespeare respectively and follows the plot to it as well. The play is pretty much a story about a bunch of rumors that get mixed up with one another leading to very confused characters accidentally falling in love with one another or out of it.…

"Lunar Baedeker," the word 'lunar' means moon. It can also mean relating to the moon, but more importantly it can mean measured by the moon's cycles. What in the world is a "Baedeker" though? Baedeker is actually one Karl Baedeker, a German who, in 1859, published a series of guidebooks. Mina Loy's title, therefore, translates to either "a guide to the moon" or a " a guide to the moon's cycle or cycles."…

In the beginning there was chaos and Orana, the goddess of the sun, was born. She is the ruler who formulated what is now known as the core of the earth. She gathered many stars and crushed them together to create a glowing rock-like sphere. Orana then decided to have the core revolve around her so she could watch her creation. While doing this she ran into Lunasta, god of the moon. Lunasta moved the moon to have it revolve around the core too. So instead Orana and Lunasta decided to put the sun and the moon right next to each other. After a while one of the stars pinched Lunasta and gave him the idea to have a child with the sun goddess and add onto the core. They had three children together; Tierrana goddess of the land, Aguanta god of the water, and Vientino god of the wind. Lunasta did not want his children taking over his domain in the sky so he squished them together and threw them on the rock core. Tierrana took up half the core and Aguanta took up the other half. Vientino became stretched out over the entire core, on top of his siblings.…

The priestess may commence the meeting with a blessing on the members of the coven and give thanks to the Mother Goddess. Coven meetings will usually take place on, “full moons, solstices, equinoxes, and cross-quarter days” (Strmiska 55). Various rituals may take place during these meetings or even celebrations if the meeting takes place during the solstice or equinox holidays. Worship in Wicca is usually centered on, “ecstatic union with the deities” (Strmiska 55). Unification between the follower and the deity is an important factor in Wicca. Magic is often an important feature of worship and may involve the power of crystals or other objects. The magic performed may be in an attempt to reach out to the Great Goddess, the Horned God, or the moon goddess. The moon goddess is mentioned in one of the most important texts to Wiccans, The Gospel of Witches (Strmiska 56). The text contains spells that may be used to summon the moon goddess if need…

The Mid-Autumn Festival is derived from the tradition of praying to Chang-e, the Moon Goddess, in the autumn for a plentiful harvest. According to a legend from the Han Dynasty, Chang-e was the wife of divine archer Hou Yi, who shot down one of 10 suns that appeared in the sky one day. He and his wife were banished to earth to live as mortals for his actions. After some time living on earth, Hou Yi found an elixir of immortality and both he and his wife drank it. After drinking the elixir, his wife was sent to live on the moon alone while Hou Yi remained on earth. Each Mid-Autumn Festival, revelers eat moon cakes and stare at the moon, which is said to be the roundest and brightest on this day.…
