Genre- Soft rock is one of the sub-genres of rock music. The main focus is melodic, toned down, and less aggressive when compared to hard rock. The instruments used are electric guitars and drum. The main themes of soft rock are love relationship.
Year: The starting date of the soft rock music is in the 1960s. However, I will only observe the soft rock music in the 1990s to 2000.
Artists: -Phil Collins (Another Day in Paradise): His “Another Day in Paradise” sings from a third-person perspective; this song has religion and political connotation. The song is released in 1989. -Michael Bolton (I Found Someone)

Fans: Most of the soft rock fans are older people, however, the hard rock fans will not like the soft rock music.
This is because they think that soft rock music is too soft and they don’t like the feeling of weaknesses.
Artists: Phil Collins- His early influence was Ringo Starr (Richard Starkey Jr.) from The Beatles. Collins started his career at age of 14 as an actor, but he also continues his passion in music as a drummer and later made his first album. Two of his songs influences by his personal relationship are “Please Don’t Ask” and “ Misunderstanding.” Most of the songs in his first album reveal his relationship with his wife. Michael Bolton: Bolton co-wrote many songs with Laura Branigan and many other artists. However, the most significance co-writer is Laura Branigan because it is when Bolton gained his title as a songwriter.

The song focusing on someone get back on his feet and stand up for something, which make people that are in a bad situation have the hope to get back on their feet.
Industry: Both of these artist’s songs become popular because of the radios and TV in the 1990s, however for the 21st century, their works can be seen on another media such as YouTube, Spotify, and another musical media.
Literature: The type of people that made comment on these songs are from the older generation to people in the late 20s. Most of these people that made the comments tend to focus on the meaning of the lyric of the song.
Country pop
Country pop- the genre starts in Nashville 1960s. The typical instruments are vocals, guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums, pedal steel guitar and keyboard. Country pop started when Chet Atkins and Owen Braley attempt to make new kind of music in 1950s.
Year: The genre started in late 1960s. The observation of the trend will be in the year of 2000-2014.

In addition, the target fans of this music are young adults. The targeted fans of the duo Florida Georgia Line are young male adult and very little female fans.
Artists: Carrie Underwood- She is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She is the winner of the American Idol in 2005; the show made her well known as a country singer during the 21st century. Florida Georgia Line- This is an American duo that was formed in Nashville, Tennessee. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley met at the Belmont University in 2008. Then, they started to work together toward their dream as a country singer.
Music: “Something In The Water” “Now That She’s Gone” and “Cruise”: Most of their songs focused on woman and relationship.
Industry: For Carrie Underwood, her success in music comes from American Idol and it helps her become a well-known singer through media such as YouTube and TV shows. Florida and Georgia: The first album contained 11 songs and produced by Joey Moi. One of their songs reached number on “Country Airplay” in 2012 and hit number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Most of their songs are released on a country radio.
Literature: Some critics from YouTube said that the song “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line is not a country music. Overall, some people really like the song because of emotion that they could perceive from the chorus and some people really hate the song because of the lyric.
