In the article that I read Philosopher Thomas Hobbes believed that people must surrender their freedom to a ruler. In the article, french philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau states that people should come together in societies and the solution was to form a social contract with general will or the common good.
In my opinion I agree with philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
I agree with him because he believed that humans are born with freedom, and this is true. I also agree with him because he stated that Government deserved to be obeyed only as it followed the common good in its actions.
I agree with him because he wants to bring back the freedom of the people on how humans lived before societies and government existed. He wants to bring back the freedom of humans in which people were really free and friendly. I agree with him because I also believe in what he believes that the only way that people can improve morally and mentally is to come together in societies, in a way that having an organized group of people can improve their morality and mentality. Philosopher Thomas Hobbes has more likely to lead to an authoritarian government because he said that people must be willing to surender their freedom to a ruler. This means that citizens have no power. He also said that the ruler must have an absolute power, meaning he is trying to say that the leader can control his people. He stated that the ruler must have an absolute power, backed by force. For me that means that authority comes from fear so it is like his philosophy is more likely an authoritarian government. Knowing that the ruler has the absolute power I can say that the philosophy of Thomas Hobbes is more likely an authoritarian
