A Teacher's Philosophy Shylah, the teacher I interviewed, has been teaching preschool for 8 years. She says that she has always preferred to teach preschool because that's where she provides the basis for education and is capable of preparing her students' well. Her philosophy of teaching is to create a place where her students' are excited about learning. She provides a safe, comfortable, stimulating, fun, and educational environment. The teacher plans activities and guide the students' in doing them. Children in her preschool class have the opportunity to learn about color, shapes, numbers, letters, animals, feelings, and senses. Through education is where children build a life that is successful. In her classroom, every student learns at his or her own pace and she will never pressure on a child to learn something faster than he or she is able to. Although every child has different levels of learning, she ensures that each student is being challenged. Her goal is to accommodate different learning styles and levels through assessments and individual attention. If she becomes aware where each student stands, she will be more accurate on how she can help students' improve. No matter how diverse her classroom is, she will use methods that fit all of her students' needs. She believes that students' learn best through play. This is why she provides an environment that is stimulating using proper tools with which her students' can explore. She provides a variety of play and let children talk about their play with other students'. Finally, Shylah believes that the best education not only comes from school, but also from children's homes. She supports the students' families by providing information about the child development and learning process so parents' can help at home too. She involves parents' in classroom activities. She believes that each child has the ability to become the best they can and she will instill in them a passion for

    Play is a child’s context for learning.     An occurring social issue in North America is the representation of the body in the media. Media integrates itself everywhere due to the change in technology. Anything that associates with the media makes its way into almost every facet of our lives. There are very few places where people are not bombarded with advertisements of any sort. Everyone has some type of exposure to media in one way or another. One major fixation the media has is body image, especially in North America, where there are always advertisements pertaining to society’s perception of body image. Not only is it in advertisements, but in magazines, fashion, etc. It is obvious one can find it in any medium of the media such as: television, internet, and magazines/newspapers. The media tends to focus more on the appearance of beauty in body image, instead of the overall realistic view of people. There is a natural sense of egoism in media. It conveys that there is only one ideal way of how the body should look, and does not acknowledge the diverse human beings in the everyday. It is always changing along with society. As media depicts the image of the body, it starts to influence people which can make drastic measures in the personal image a person has of themselves. However, it depends on the person’s choice on whether they will let it influence them or not. By establishing unattainable standards of beauty and bodily perfection, the media compels dissatisfaction to ordinary people and their perception to their own body image. Body image in the media results in giving a negative effect on people today because of its over-powering influence. It raises unrealistic social expectations, as it is only for self interest, and violates the codes of human nature; however, people have to rationalize themselves if they want to be subjected to this perception.…

    It is wrong to conceive a child for the purposes of saving another. There are cases in which parents only conceive a child to save the life of another. It is unfair to the child conceived because it was not made out of love. The child was conceived for instrumental reasons. In a case presentation called “A Birth to Save a Life” there are several focal points that discussed the arguments of conceiving a child for the wrong purposes. The movie My Sister’s Keeper is based on a true story of a family who conceives a child to save the life of the oldest sibling who has leukemia. People may think that it is fine to do it in order to save another child’s life. However, it can deprive the future of the newborn because the operations and transplants can cause harm his or her development. It is sad that parents are not thinking about the child they are bringing to life that are using as a tool for an older sibling. Parents should let nature take its course to create a child the normal way. No child should meet any specific genetic requirements.     Bollywood has certain flair to it that not many other cinemas’ hold. As a child, I was exposed to many Bollywood movies. I was used to watching movies about romance, true love, dancing, music and obviously the usual exaggerated death scene. My love for Bollywood had faltered during my early teen years, where I was more focused on action that Hollywood provided me with. I am ashamed to say that the “T & A” theme that had captured the imaginations of millions of young teenagers also caught my attention (minimally). However, I could not be kept away from Bollywood for long; I now find their movies to be witty, funny, (even more) and dramatic, have amazing songs, and even better actors. How did Bollywood attract me, how did it attract its billion viewers? Nasreen Munni Kumar, author of the published book Bollywood: The Indian Cinema Story, says “Indian films are unquestionably the most-seen movies in the world. And we’re not just talking about the billion-strong audiences in India itself, where 12 million people are said to go to the cinema every day.” It definitely does not use the same “T & A” theme that Hollywood does. So what themes and motifs does it use? Bollywood attracts its audience by showing them the basic cultural values that they live by.
