The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) monitors six health-risk behaviors that all play a major role in the main causes of death among our youth and adults. According to the CDC Website, these six health risks include, “behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence, sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (HIV), alcohol and other drug use, tobacco use, unhealthy dietary behaviors, and inadequate physical activity” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Although each one of these are a major issue this can be avoided with efficient health programs for children in grades K-6th grades.
