The reactants are oxygen and glucose. I know that oxygen is needed for cellular respiration because of lab 9.1. In that lab, we found out that 20ml of oxygen for 100ml of blood was going to the cells from the lungs. We also discovered that of the 100ml of blood, 15 was going from the cells to the lungs. This shows us that oxygen is necessary for cellular respiration because as the blood went through the body, the oxygen level decreased because it was being used up by the body. Also in lab 9.2, we learned how food molecules, in this case glucose, are used by the body. In this part of the lab, researchers gave dogs a glucose drink(sugar water) and measured the amount of glucose in three different places in the body. The places with glucose in most to least order is as follows. Veins:small intestine to liver, Veins: From liver to body, and Artery: From body to organs for digestion. This shows us that glucose or food molecules are necessary for cellular respiration because the food was being placed in different spots. It was being used by those spots, being digested, or stored. The products are carbon dioxide, water, kinetic, and thermal energy. Cellular respiration produces carbon dioxide. One way I know this is because of lab 9.2. In this lab we had two test tubes. One with elodea plant and one without. We filled both up with BTB solution, but we did not blow in it causing it to be blue because it had a low carbon dioxide concentration. We left it in the dark overnight. The next day the tube without the plant was still a blue color because no carbon dioxide was added. The tube with the plant turned a green/yellow color because carbon dioxide was produced through cellular respiration. This shows us that carbon dioxide is produced and cellular respiration does happen because the plant was constantly providing energy for itself, just not through photosynthesis. The plant was taking in oxygen and using it to produce carbon
