Pitbulls

Students, Teachers, Ryan. There has been an issue going on for a long time. There are many dogs in America that are considered “unadoptable”. Most of which are pit bulls. As the Journalist Linda Wilson-Fuoco said “Pit bulls are famous, in circles of knowledgeable dog people, for the love and loyalty they bestow on anyone who shows them a smidgen of kindness.”
A news article posted by The Washington Post’s Kerry Lauerman titled It’s time to stop demonizing pit bulls. This article explains that Pit bulls used to be a highly favored breed until the 1970’s. It says that the pit bulls became America’s Bête Noire or black beast. They were demonized in magazines and shelters gave up trying to find homes for them. With my love for animals it pains me to see what is happening to such a unique dog breed. It isn’t their fault that they are unadoptable. Some get little to no discipline from their owners, I have seem some that are chained up, and some pit bull owners intentionally train their dogs to be violent towards others resulting in the dogs being taken away.
3.9 million of them are homeless. 1.2 million of them are euthanized and approximately 40% of them are pit-bulls. Now, why do you think that is? It is because of two reasons. The first is because most shelters give up on trying to find homes for the dogs. The second reason is because of the owners neglecting them. So I ask you; Do you think that is fair for the dogs? For people to give up hope on these pit bulls, or that people use them for their own sick games? No, it isn’t fair for them to have this fate. What you should do is blame the owners for their incompetence and not how the dog is. That is just how they were raised, little to no discipline or affection, and intentionally trained to attack other people and animals that just so happen to cross their
