You have heard it countless times before. “Pit bulls are heartless monsters!” Or you may have heard the ever famous claim, “Pit bulls are killers, dangerous, and keep your kids away from them!” But there are people like me out there that believe they are not monsters. They are just misunderstood. Training and discipline techniques from a young age are all it takes to have a lovable pit bull that wouldn’t hurt a fly.
People seem only to focus on the negative side of pits. More often than not, you will see headlines reading, “Child bitten by pit bull.” But where are the highlights that say, “Pit bull saves disabled veterans life.” I know what some of you are thinking. “They are vicious, bloodthirsty, evil animals.” But that is simply not true. Any dog can be made violent. If you take a puppy from any breed and show it love and make an effort to train it against violence, then you teach it not to be a “monster”. Dogs respond to a treat or affection based reward system better than punishment. I believe that education about dogs and training them could stop a lot of the violence we see today. Several videos and pictures document abused dogs and pit bulls after rescue. These Images show a loving creature, even after all it has been through. These creatures are longing for love and understanding that humans cannot provide them if we believe all the negative stereotypes. …show more content…
