Pit bulls are mean. Their bite rate is high. They are a danger. But does anyone think about why they are like that? They aren’t just born like that, it is how some are raised. No dog can just be a certain way. Not all pitbulls mean, and they aren’t the only ones. Any dog can be vicious. It is an unreasonable thought to think all pitbulls are all dangerous in general. Any dog can be vicious. Some dogs have more aggressive traits, but that doesn’t automatically make them dangerous. There are many different variables that contribute to a dog's attitude. Those could be anything from things that cause fear, like a bathtub or loud noises, to previous abuse, causing them to dislike
certain traits about people around them, like hats or a beard and sunglasses. Some just has trigger objects. Another thing most people don’t bother to think about is the previous owner. Let’s say the previous owner raised it from a puppy to be an aggressive, mean, fighter. The dog was raised a certain way, which will create hard to beat habits and issues with the dog’s personality. What if the dog’s past owner was abusive? Wouldn’t that cause the dog to be a little anxious around certain things or people in general? There are multiple reasons for a dog to have aggressive behavior. Pit bulls have had a harsh reputation with the public eye. Reports saying they are a danger to everyone. Insurance companies not covering people if they own a so-called bully breed. Even going as far as banning them and sending them all to pounds. But it's not their fault. All the reports, papers, and statements saying how awful and mean these animals are have ruined most people's’ chances of wanting a pitbull. So they get left in shelters alone. Media and news only pay attention to the biting, and fights, but some are kind hearted, genetic, and easy going. But most people don't care and just go to the stereo type: pit bull equals vicious. The phrase “bully breed” is illogical. There is no way to group entire breeds into a category of ruthlessness. That would be like saying all girls are smarter than boys. It doesn’t work. There isn’t a valid reason for stereo typing that way, because an entire group can’t be all the same without variances. The classic pit bull stereotype is a myth, completely false by all reasoning.
