The DISC Platinum Rule Assessment discusses four different dimensions of behavior. Each person has a combination of these behaviors, but will have strong connections to one of the four dimensions. The assessment determines which of these behaviors are most prominent in a person’s personality and also a substyle that more specifically determines the DISC style. Direct behaviors are obvious. These behaviors include constant eye contact, emphatic statements and opinions, firm handshakes, and competitiveness. Several in our group disagree with the assessment that states that Impresser behavior includes disorganization, although some agree that we may be perceived as disorganized even though we are not. Weaknesses for the Dominance Style include impatience, acting insensitive, taking oneself too seriously, and poor listening skills. Although these behaviors are considered weaknesses for this team, they have not been exhibited in this online team environment. Strengths for the Dominance Style include high energy, leadership, administration, and juggling (The Platinum Rule, 2012). Communication is a strong characteristic in both the Interactive and Dominance styles and this is prevalent in our team. The discussion in this team has been optimistic and several team members help to motivate others to get the work done and offer assistance when needed. The team believes that most of these strengths are accurate. The difficulties that can arise within this group relate to workflow interdependencies. This happens when individuals or groups have to rely on others to provide assistance to help achieve a goal (Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2008). These interdependencies are necessary in the team environments at this school. Each individual must participate for the team to complete the assignment. The styles of the members of this team provide behaviors that make the team very productive and therefore these difficulties have not been
