The words “under God” are just stating how our government was established, through the hard work of our founding fathers. These founding fathers believed that this freedom comes from God, not the state. Taking out that principle would change the very basis for freedom that we take for granted. In closing, I do not believe that it matters how long “under God” has been in our Pledge.
