Plot Summary Of Red Sonja
I literally knew nothing about Red Sonja before popping in the new Shout! Factory Blu-ray release of Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues. Okay, maybe nothing is a bit of a stretch, as I did know that Bridgette NeilisenX played her in an 80s movie I never got around to watching. Besides that, nothing else. Thankfully, you don't need to know much about Red Sonja to sit down and watch Queen of Plagues. Originally released as an 184 page graphic novel by Gail Simone, Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues is presented as a 74-minute motion graphic novel, with full, albeit sketchy voice acting and additional animations not seen in paper form. Is the disc worth it for fans and non-fans? Read on to find out...

It's the same story, just in a different medium. What's nice about this story is that it includes a new backstory for Sonja that explains her character quite nicely. Ever since Sonja was a child, she has been surrounded by murder, corruption, and betrayal. She manages to overcome these terrible situations and come out the other side a super strong, kickass warrior woman. However, while reacquainting herself with her savior of many years ago, Red Sonja runs into an old friend by the name of Dark Annisia, who manages to kick her ass and force her to be exiled and hopefully for Dark Annisia's sake, die from a plague. It is here in her dying days that we find out about her past and who this friend is that betrayed her. Of course, Red Sonja wouldn't be the kickass woman she is if she didn't at least try to rise up above a measly plague and save an entire city from death. You just need to make sure she is given enough time to have a drink or two before the battle.

Red Sonja: Queen of Plagues isn't a dull movie, much in thanks to the story by Gail Simone and the artwork by Walter Geovani. However, there are issues in translating this epic story to a moving medium. First off, there are plenty of areas where the animation is zoomed in and the quality of the picture degrades. This is done to give the look of the movie a more filmlike quality, but the constant bouncing back

Well, save for the ear-aching voice acting, it's not bad. I heard no distortion, hissing or low dialogue-although maybe that last part wouldn't be so bad. For anyone that is tech curious, the film is presented in XXX.

As for special features, you're getting one 18-minute long 'Making of' that features interviews with XXX, Gail Simone and XXX. It's an enjoyable sit-down and you get to see some behind the scenes with a couple actors voicing characters.

VERDICT

Fans of the graphic novel should get a pretty cool kick out of seeing their favorite book come to life so to speak. However, even if you haven't heard much about the character before (like me), you'll still get some enjoyment out of this action-packed

Based solely on the novel of Divergent a movie was made lasting two hours and nine minutes. This isn't a short span of time for a movie yet, could it be pure coincidence that they left out some details. Could it have been some of the effects were to gruesome for a film rated PG-13? Or were these actions of leaving the details out more purposeful? Does it give the movie somewhat of a different meaning than the original script of the book? So it brings into question, who wrote it better the writer of the novel Veronica Roth, or the director of the film Neil Burger?…

Red, White, and Black, Chapter 5, by Gary B. Nash talks about many different wars, rebellions, and colonization's that go on with the coastal societies in the 1600s. I learned that in Metacom’s war “some of the coastal tribes were prepared to risk extinction rather than become a colonized and culturally imperialized people”(Nash 110). This interested me by the way they stood up for what they wanted and would not give up even if it costed their…

In Albert Camus' book chapter "The Rebel," Camus defines rebellion is when a rebel experiences a feeling of having his or her rights being broken, they decide that enough is enough and stand up for herself/himself. In the scholarly article "Teaching about Civil Disobedience," written by J. Clark, Thomas Vontz, and Kristoffer Barikmo, they define civil disobedience as a nonviolent act to break an unjust law, to bring attention to some perceived injustice. The theories and definitions in these texts will be applied to the characters actions and intentions in Jonathan Kaplan film Over the Edge, as well as the actions and intentions of the Stonewall Riots and Montgomery Bus Boycott. From this analysis, in Kaplan's film rebellion and civil disobedience…

The Cultural Revolution that took place in the 1960’s and 70’s had a major impact on the citizens of China, and is represented throughout literature in a multitude of ways, as shown in the passages Red Scarf Girl and China’s Cultural Revolution. With these differentiating ideas used in both passages, people who learn about this topic can thoroughly understand these facts on deep emotional levels if there are ways to get a full picture of the historical events that took place. In other words, since there are different points of view, different attitudes towards the alteration, and different displays of how the authors describe these developments in history, readers can fully grasp the concept that is the Chinese Cultural Revolution.…

Some actors acted and appeared entirely different in the movie than the book. The directing and special effects were okay in some scenes, but half-baked and lousy in others. Furthermore, the characters are developed far less in the film and many semi-important scenes in the novel are excluded in the film. Do not watch this movie unless you have read the novel (or even if you have read it). If you haven’t read the book and decide to watch the movie instead, you will fail to understand the complicated relationships between each character and between the Socs and Greasers and just think the movie is substandard and all aspects of the movie lacked in action, emotion, or just seemed like they were not well thought out. A 3.5/10 may seem harsh, but I was not pleased. Just go read the book instead. It had the potential to be a great film, but severely missed the…

Let's start off with the basic similarities. First of all, the two books are written by the same author. Of course they're gonna have tons of similarities. The plots in fact are quite similar. The lighting thief plot is about Percy Jackson finding out he’s a demigod (half mortal, half immortal) and experiencing drastic life changes. He has to quickly fit in with all these other half-bloods. Then Percy has to fight with all the Gods about Zeus’s lightning bolt, and it’s a complete mess. Now this is the plot for the red…

When one turns on the television today they are made witness to all the crimes that are present in society. It is impossible to sit through thirty-five minutes of news without anger and rage becoming aroused. This is because society is bothered by infinitesimal paraphernalia. Society also believes in human rights and punishment for those who violate such rights. Yet what constitutes humanity? Ever sit there and watch the news and wonder just how far humanity reaches? When is it time to say this is a human rights violation? Every wonder when someone 's morals and ethics begin to effect their ability to do their job? Ever wonder why in every news story the "bad guy" always become caught? Ever wonder how many people on death row might not be guilt? Some of them could have even been used as scapegoats. Yet how does one become a scapegoat? Could someone out there have that much hatred and anger to blame one person for the faults of many? Is the need for blame significant? Does desire lead to more hatred and evil? What does it feel like to be blamed for something that might not be wrong, and to be put on trial knowing that the jury wants to blame someone? In society and in the United States since its founding, there has been a need to place blame. Imagine how the person being blamed would feel. Henry Wirz did not have to image it; he lived through it and died for it. Someone is always to be blamed, even if they were just following orders. Orders which can only go so far until humanity takes effect. Henry Wirz was used as a scapegoat for war crimes committed during the Civil War at Andersonville Prison, however that does not justify his acts or make him an American hero.…

I decided to rewrite the story of “Little Red Riding Hood” because it seemed very fitting in relation to my topic of rape. In the story, Little Red is tricked by a wolf into taking off her red hood that protects her from wolves. She is then attacked by the wolf, and afterwards she runs to the village begging for help. Unfortunately no one will help her; they give the responses countless give to victims of sexual assault, and so Little Red cries. Then a hunter decides to help her and teaches her how to defend herself, they kill the wolf and Little Red is never a victim again. However, unlike this story, most rape victims never receive a happy ending, and never receive justice.…
