Once breaking in, Paris jumps forward and fearlessly challenges Romeo to a duel after misunderstanding the Montague’s presence as Paris rages, “Stop thy unhallowed toil, vile Montague. / Can vengeance be pursued further than death?” (5.3.54-55) After provoking Romeo and eventually Paris’s death, Romeo rushes to his love’s side with his torch to glimpse Juliet’s face tears already forming in his eyes and crying, “For here lies Juliet, and her beauty makes / this vault a feasting presence full of light” (5.3. 85-86).
