Poe Vs Dahl

Edgar Allan Poe and Roald Dahl both have different writing styles, but they also have some similarities. For instance both of the authors have a unique, dark way of writing stories. Both authors wrote some of their stories based on their childhood which in some cases was good and at other times was bad. The two authors both use similes when they write to make it more suspenseful for the reader and to explain the events in the story in a more detailed fashion. Poe and Dahl also use a great deal of metaphors in their stories that define their writing styles. Lastly they both use personification when writing to give the story character. Roald Dahl has a dark, yet fun side when he writes his short stories. Unlike Poe, Roald Dahl had a fun childhood but as he got older it was quite a bumpy ride. Dahl was born in Llandaff, South Wales on September 13th, 1916. He was a mischievous child that was full of energy and had a way of always finding trouble. After he graduated he began his journey to fame, writing anything from children's books to deathly tales with unexpected turns. In my opinion I like Roald Dahl’s writing style better than Poe’s. I believe that Roald Dahl’s writings are better because they offer a deeper meaning than Poe’s stories. In Poe’s short story The Tell-Tale Heart there really is no story behind it other than a psycho maniac killing someone and then feeling guilt about it. In Dahl’s stories they have a story line, an example is The Landlady it may be like Poe’s story The Tell-Tale Heart but it has a deeper storyline, when I say this I mean there is more things that happen in The Landlady.
