To start, the unit itself is boring to me. Learning about gender theory is not something that seems exciting to me. In the poem, it says, “If this is a play, I want my money back.” This signifies the waste of time that this unit is to me. I did not feel like this unit is significant to my learning and so I felt upset that I had to sit through it all. I disagree with some of the ideas that were present inside the unit. For example, the females were stating how males often abused women due to society weaning them to be aggresive. I disagree with this statement and I am trying to argue how males by their very nature are aggressive and it is not a by-product of society. Any other unit would be better than this one, as seen by the poem, where it says, “If this is a punishment, I’d have preferred a smack.” This shows that instead of enduring this entire unit, I rather have taken any other form of “punishment”, where the smack means any form of tedious readings or a boring book. Any other type of punishment would have been more endurable than the unit, again due to the fact that most of our class is females. Due to this unit, I felt as though I am being punished for an action that I did not commit, but would still happily take a smack, rather than sit through this unit again.
