Poem Analysis: Magic Island By Cathy Song

Based on the evidences and its mood from the poem, I think the family builds windmills in their total new circumstances. In the last stanza of the poem, Magic Island by Cathy Song says, “It is a day an immigrant and his family might remember, the husband taking off his shirt to sit like an Indian before the hot grill.” In these lines of the poem the author displays how the man and his family reacts to their quite unfamiliar situation. As an immigrant, life in their new stage might not be as great as it was in their home country. They might have faced numerous strenuous obstacles and hardships in their new environment.
