police man
My dream job is to be a pilice officer. I think work in police would be a fun and exciting. When I watch police officers katching or fighting with offenders on the news, it makes me want to be out there and help them. I also like the idea that I would be helping many people. Police officers risk and lose their lives for people they don't even know.
While there are bound to be lots of challenges, the rewards should outweigh them. First of all you can meet a variety of people, it can be a grate alternative to a boring desk job. It is immensely satisfying to save lives every day and also to help people make better choices. Most often you will encounter people at their worst (drug addicts, gang members, thieves). The most satisfying aspect of working as a police officer is the unique opportunity you have to show these people a better way.
Working as a police officer would not always be easy. Every day would be sure to bring its challenges. Whatever the challenges, the ultimate reward would be following my dream and helping keep my community peaceful and safe.
It is said that police officer is difficult job to get into because there are many applicants and it takes a very long time to know if you get the job. I have a long way to go before I can become a police officer, but that is my dream and I know if I work hard enough my dream will come

Police and detective work can be dangerous and stressful. Competition should remain keen for higher paying jobs with State and Federal agencies and police departments in affluent areas. Opportunities will be better in local and special police departments that offer relatively low salaries or in urban communities where the crime rate is relatively high. Applicants with college training in police science or military police experience should have the best opportunities. Because Law enforcement is a demanding field you must be prepared to work long hours, be physically fit and have a clean criminal record.…

"Policing is a psychologically stressful work environment filled with danger, high demands, ambiguity in work encounters, human misery and exposure to death" ("Science Daily", 2008). With that being said, there are numerous issues facing law enforcement today. A career in law enforcement is not only physical but also a demanding psychological job. Officers are faced with terrorist threats, danger on the job and the decision on what type of force to use dependent on the situation they are faced with. They are often blamed for racial profiling and experience law suits. Officers face death every time they report for duty, they are giving their life. Law enforcement for years has been faced with corruption in the departments. The stress and late night hours of the job becomes an issue on a daily basis, affecting family life and at times mentally ruining the officer. Contemplating this, detectives require a strong head to keep them from falling apart. Detectives must be extremely detailed and tedious in their work because if they aren’t they could miss a small clue that could provide a big break in a case. Being under constant pressure is another condition they must work in. People want justice and are relying on someone to solve the crime and provide that for them and the person responsible for that is a detective. It is a huge undertaking for this occupation when it comes to responsibility. I interviewed Lee McColly, a police officer in Jacksonville who was kind enough to answer a few questions so that I could get a grasp on what it is like to be an officer, considering that it is required that a detective first be one before they can start the career. He explains the daily duties like basic patrol which includes looking for criminal activities and keeping the area safe. In addition to that there is traffic control which is just making sure all vehicles are abiding by the traffic laws and issuing warnings or citations if they are breaking them. Then there is criminal investigation, where he investigates petty theft, identity theft, burglary and fraud of different types. Officer McColly says that a majority of the job is public assists, where he is called to help someone who has called for help and that you never know what you’re going to get called for. He tells me that their overall goal of the police department is to protect the public and that is the main objective. I then asked about the amount of hours a police officer usually works, he tells me that hours are very odd and unpredictable and there is no set schedule, you can even get ordered in on your…

This essay will demonstrate the development of ethical leadership by discussing leadership traits and characteristics that I believe are important in the transition from probationary constable to a first line leader. It will also include methods on how this transition can be successfully achieved. The discussion will also contain a self-assessment of my own leadership strengths and weakness, and suggest developmental approaches to improve my leadership skills. Being employed as a police officer brings a consistent standard of morals and a high degree of integrity within one self, whilst promoting these same characteristics of other police officers, the New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) and the general public. These traits are essential…
