All in all the differences in these two families show how family roles have changed over a period of time. It also shows how technology has had a great impact on the world today, and is rapidly taking away from face to face conversations. When they were younger they stuck together and even though they had problems they had faith in their parents. Their parents made them strong and gave them a lot of experiences. Some of which would be being able to pet a real tiger, sleeping under the stars in the desert, and many more. At times it made it seem like the kids were the most wonderful, important part of their parents’ lives, but at others it seemed like they were either too busy to be parents or had better things to do with more important things. When they were younger they believed that the adventures they were going on were actually that, but it was really the family just needing to move to stay away from certain people and unpaid bills. But for all of the good experiences there was also a not so great experience. Their dad was drunk for a lot of their life and when he was drunk he would yell at them and not be a good father. He took Jeannette to a bar and pretty much let a stranger do anything he wanted with her just to get some money. Their mom would have mental break-down type of things and the kids would have to do everything around the house. It seemed like at times their dad would do anything just to get some money for alcohol or who knows what; he would even take the money that the kids needed to buy food and pay the bills, which the kids shouldn’t have to be worried…

They live in illusions, with the memories of reality in the past, similar to 1984, where history is important to accepting of their reality. This play shows how characters distort truths to accept the fact that they cannot understand each other. Amanda alludes to her past, and is untruthful to herself in order to cope with her reality. She cannot understand her children's’ ways. As a mother, she remembers her youthful experiences, and longs for the same for her children, Tom and Laura. When talking of her past, she has an elated diction, happier than that of when she talks of the present: QUOTE AND EXPLAIN. Her past has become an illusion and is not the truth of her reality, yet it influences her language. Amanda was outgoing in her youth and desired much attention, differing tremendously from Laura. The language when she describes her lifestyle is a zealous tone, showing excitement and eagerness for her daughter to feel the same. She often tries to live vicariously through her daughter, in denial of the…

One of the main elements of the story is the characters. The father, George, fit his role perfectly as an individual who appeals to the common interests of his wife and children, seemingly wanting them to remain content with his actions. Lydia, the wife, plays a very anxious character overcome with emotions, which helped set the tone. One portrayal of this would be the passage where she proclaims “That’s just it. I feel like I don’t belong here. The house is wife and mother now, and nursemaid. Can I compete with an African Veldt?” expressing her consistent feelings of incompetence and inadequacy as a wife and mother. Peter, the son, is very smart for a child. George described this best in saying “He’s a wise one for ten. That I.Q of his-“. There is no doubt that his savvy, neurotic intellect was behind the veldt land in the nursery, and the events that followed. The daughter, Wendy, seemed innocent enough although the feeling of her being enabled by Peter, her brother, does come off as alarming as she seemed to be scheming right along with him as to what was to happen with their parents. She has been extremely desensitized by the nursery and the Happylife Home, as she does…

It is a glimpse into how differently a father would raise his children if given a chance to do so without interference or boundaries. It reminds us that once parents learn to listen to each other instead of fighting with each other during divorce proceedings they will finally come around to doing what is best for their children. The movie introduces the viewers to the changing dynamic of the American family. Mothers are no longer stay at home moms who simply tend to children and cook meals. These days women like Miranda Hillard (Sally Field) are career driven heads of industries. It is also not uncommon these days to find a stay at home dad like Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams). The problem with this situation is that even though mothers bring home the bacon, they are still expected to come home and perform their wifely and motherly duties. Something that society has not once, throughout the history or marriages expected from the husband and father. Such a situation indeed takes its toll on any marriage and weakens the foundation of the…

Most D-type flip-flops in ICs have the capability to be forced to the set or reset state (which ignores the D and clock inputs), much like an SR flip-flop. Usually, the illegal S = R = 1 condition is resolved in D-type flip-flops. By setting S = R = 0, the flip-flop can be used as described above. Here is the truth table for the others S and R possible configurations:…

This is my favorite movie. One would think that America as a more modern society is moving forward with affirmative action, equal rights, and government laws. Differences in skin color and cultural beliefs are the visual characteristics that have caused various hate crimes. Laws that give non-white ethnic groups the rights to share in education and form businesses add a new frustration to white America.…
