In both Cole and Schwab's articles, I learned the varying negative and positive sides to political parties and have come to conclude that political parties both aid and hurt our political system. Being a naturally competitive person, hating ties, I was reluctant to reach this conclusion, but after considering Pichowsky's points in the fourth article, I have fostered the idea that because there is no perfect political system, we will have to cope with imperfect political institutions, like political parties, and take advantage of our ability to be active in politics. We have power to stir changes at all levels. Political parties are in place to hear the voices of their members and if the members want to see a change, they need to actively say so. On a person level, this research has changed my personal views about political involvement and has sparked a desire to exercise my newly-acquired voting right in more ways than just checking a
