A country in which unity is proclaimed in its very name. In yet another revelation, Washington alludes to the possibility of a civil unrest due to factions voicing, “ It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection.” As it has been said before, a house divided cannot stand, therefore, structured disunity can and has lead to chaotic destruction . As a country, we solemnly remember the Civil War in which faction fought faction in the slaughter of over 900,000 men and women. Lost was our nation's unity . In the face of a government’s responsibility to protect the lives and wills of its citizens, political parties have proven themselves to do just the opposite.
Originally political parties served to represent the two opposing viewpoints of the american people, concerning the future of their new country. However, with the progression of time, political parties grew to become large all encompassing enterprises, representative only of a minority. Few americans fall solely Democratic or Republican due to the vast array of beliefs held by each party. When the voice of the people is lost to the strength of a government, it is our right and responsibility to abolish those injustices and institute a new system. Why then, do we stand in
