Political Policies And Philosophies Of The United States And The Soviet Union
After World War II the United States and the Soviet Union were reluctant allies against Germany. They had very different political policies and philosophies, and the difference in foreign policies led to the inception of the Cold War.

The Soviet Union was ruthlessly expansionary. This is evidenced by their failure to comply with the agreements made during the Yalta Conference. Stalin agreed that the Soviet Union would allow Poland, Bulgaria, and Romania to have free, democratic elections after the war. He failed to honor this promise and placed communist governments in power in those countries without an election. This action forced the United States to become resentful and the relations with the Soviet Union began to suffer.
