This act created stability, leading me later obtaining my citizenship. The IRCA amnesty created a permanent residency for migrants who had lived in the U.S. continuously since January 1982 or before. As I recall in this time, I was about 9 yrs. Old. Maturity came early for me during the IRCA time, I became my parent’s translator, would be in meetings with the lawyers who were handling our case, would also read important case papers and anything that my parents not quite understand. Nonetheless, at an early age I became interested in politics, policies and government changes. At school and at home I would always read the newspaper, and at school I had a teacher in middle school that would always tell me that knowing our government was a smart thing, it will give us awareness. In addition, my political views were also taught by my parents, they have always discussed the differences between republican and democratic parties. The political party that I’ve always favor has been the Democratic party, but this year I have leaned towards the Republican party. In the 2008 election, the Democratic party, I felt deceived in some of the proposals for example one of them is Obama care, in failure to boost the economy and lack of employment dropping substantially. Recently, I’ve have questioned myself, are the Presidents just promising to get elected, then forget their duties. It’s hard to be engaged and belief in future promised changes. More than ever in this year’s election it’s important to vote. Voting is essential right that is given to us also the right to choose, so for that reason I have always voted. My beliefs are more on the conservative side. I feel strongly on many issues, education, abortion, finance and taxes. In this year election there is so much chaos, division among people, tension, narcissism and authoritarian movements, that’s scares me of what the future in America holds for me and my children. People in the United States are angry because of what the past politicians have promised and have delivered very little.
