Political Viewpoints

In the American Government, a two party-system dominates the political landscape, consisting of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. On the political spectrum, Democrats are considered to be on the ‘left’ which means they favor more liberal viewpoints. In contrast, the Republican Party is on the ‘right’, and tend to have more conservative-leaning ideology on issues. When it comes to my political viewpoints, I believe they align the best with the Republican Party. I see myself as a Republican due to my upbringing from my parents and witnessing the success of the party.
I see myself as a Republican because of my upbringing by my parents. Growing up, my parents would remind me of where they came from, and the struggle they went through to get where they are today. Both my parents immigrated to this country with very little money in their pockets. But that did not matter to them, because they knew that there was a greater wealth ahead, in that of the land of opportunity. They worked diligently to receive an education and get good jobs. My parents knew that there were no such opportunities present in their home county,
I believe it is important to discuss politics with others and take interest in what goes on in our country. I would like to debate others whom have a different viewpoint from me, to see who has a stronger argument and why. Also, it will help to better inform me, and the other debater, on what the candidate of one’s choice stands for. I believe debating politics and recognizing differences is what makes a democracy. If a person wants to stand for something, they must know why and be able to prove why they stand for a particular cause/candidate. I myself will strive to become informed to the best of my ability on the issues and candidates of this election.
