Political Worksheet
Preston Haney Mrs. Greathouse American Government 10 February 2014 My results for the worksheet "Where Do You Stand Politically?" I intend to lean towards being more liberal than conservative. I tend to register as a liberal on freedom of choice in personal matters, but support central decision making in economics. When it comes to economics I want the government to help the disadvantage in the name of fairness. According to the worksheet I am a leftist and tolerate social diversity, but work for what they call "economically equal". In the worksheet "Ideological Survey" I tended to be more liberal than conservative. This I agree with liberal 15 out of 25 issues because everybody should be equal and even if that one person has millions of …show more content…

For example money now used for defense of the nation should be used for other priorities such as education and welfare this is a liberal statement. The government is also trying to help kids with their education. For example students from poor, inner neighborhoods should be bused to affluent suburbs in order to have equal education this is also a conservative statement that I agree with. This is a great way to give more children in the world a better opportunity to become something great in …show more content…

I think these are the most important issues because my parents are kind of into politics but, it depends on what the topic is about. My parents tell me important things about their political preferences and how I should agree or disagree with their topic to have some type of conversation with them. I will agree with them sometimes so I can please my parents and make the choices they want me to make in my life. I think if I was more educated I would probably enjoy politics and political activities. If I am around certain friends that are older or more educated I will try and talk politics with them if they bring them up in a conversation. If it is a different group of peers that do not really like to talk politics then I just do not really care for them, but it's a like or a dislike for me on

The description of a set of beliefs as "liberal" or "conservative" is a task that, in history, has changed in its requirements and protocol. We would now consider beliefs to be conservative that were at the onset of the American experiment considered liberal. Free markets, limited government, and federalism were ideas that were ridiculed throughout most of the civilized countries of the west up until recent history. On the other hand, what we would now consider to be modern liberalism can’t well be described in a similar fashion: Hobbes’ style of conservatism and its antidemocratic and autocratic impulses, while always the end result of collectivist tendencies such as modern liberalism, don’t translate completely into FDR’s style of governance and the Left’s penchant for social democracy (though Hobbes would appreciate the control that central planning entails). Modern liberalism, like modern conservatism, can be traced to a form of liberal thought. In modern liberalism’s case, though, it is rooted in continental European thought such as French Revolution radicalism and subsequent collectivist ideologies (devoted more to equality and a concept of "change") than in conservatism’s bedrock, more individualist Anglo Saxon thought. Thus, when referring to "conservative" and "liberal", the reference will be to the modern manifestations of such.…

The survey is mostly correct I do believe with hard work the government’s issues can be solved however I believe we the people should be responsible to work hard to get back on its feet not solely the government. I am very liberal on racial issues and believe no matter what color, race or sex everyone is entitled to the same opportunities, they should be allowed a decent education so they have the ability to make something of their selves if they use their resources. I am and have been very hospitable to immigrants feeling no threat from them and I do welcome them into my home as well as help them get onto their feet as they settle in America. If I were to describe my political ideology, I would consider myself mostly liberal with some independent views. I believe in equality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. I think Americans need to be a little more accepting, and open to reaching out and helping those in need. This country needs to continue moving forward and growing, and I do not see that happening with a conservative in charge.…

The five agents of socialization heavily influence a person’s political beliefs and views on different issues. Family and friends can influence a person on major political positions and even affect if that person considers themselves liberal, conservative, or moderate. A liberal is open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values. A conservative holds to traditional attitudes and values and is cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. A moderate holds moderate views in politics and sits between the extremes of liberal and conservative beliefs. Because more Americans see both sides of complex issues and see both parties as overly ideological and wish politicians would compromise more, they identify themselves as moderates than as liberals or conservatives.…

The typology that I received according to my results from this typology quiz was Next Generation Left. It is typically seen that those people who are a part of the Next Generation Left typically have liberal views, are supportive of an activist government, and wary of the growing social safety net. My results of this quiz surprised me in many different ways. When I saw what my typology was I was honestly very confused and do not agree with it. I do believe that there is an explanation for this result. While taking the quiz, there were many questions I had encountered that I was stuck in between each view. I believe that these questions might have had a large impact on my result. I believe that the thing that surprised me the most about my typology…
