When comparing the similarities and differences between virtue theory, utilitarianism, and deontology we find that they all deal with how one judge’s morality and ethics. These theories all include judging in different aspects, whether it is in the moment, what happens after, or over a lifetime. The ethics and morality behind these theories all deal with what is right, or what is best for the present, then separate paths as the theories work toward the future. With virtue ethics a person strives for excellence performing duties, and acquiring traits that others would admire. With utilitarianism a person makes a decision based on the best results, and what is best for the most amounts of people. With deontology a person makes a decision depending on what he or she thinks is morally correct, not necessarily based on the best results for the people, but more for the wellbeing of that person.…

There are many different types of air pollution, either way none of them are good for our health or our atmosphere. Air pollution has gotten worse through the years, the more factories we have and the cars we drive have had an impact on the earth. Smog is one of the types of air pollution, it is defined when smoke is present in the earth after emitting different sources. That is why a lot of times stated require you to have smog and emissions tests done on your vehicle yearly, we want to make sure we are keeping the environment as clean as possible. But cars are not the only reason for smog, different types of factories and industries play a part as well. For instance when industries do production from different types of material they can produce smog, smog can cause serious respiratory infections if not controlled. Chemicals used by these companies produce types of toxic materials which is why they are also responsible as well.…

Since 1997, during the annual June to October period, South East Asia would be shrouded in a blanket of haze and smoke, Singapore is no exception. The haze is a recurring annual problem in South East Asia caused by forest fires raging in Indonesia due to the local farmers’ “Slash and Burn” method of clearing land for agricultural purposes. Just last month, the haze in Singapore worsened to unprecedented levels, with the 3-hourly Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) hitting a record 401 on June 21, far from 1997’s 226. Air becomes hazardous when the index crosses 300. The social and economic costs arising from the haze are significant.…

The haze is a direct effect of forest fire in Kalimantan and other parts oaf Indonesia due to slash and burn method of farming. The Indonesian authorities appear to have no power to control farmers from practising such methods. The haze is further worsened by open burning practised by most Malaysians. Open-field burning of rice straw by the rice planters and open burning of dried leaves and garbage done by the public are a few examples that done by Malaysian. Many are ignorant of the health effects of open burning.…
There's nothing quite like opening the door and breathing fresh, clean, air—but how clean is the air you're breathing right now? Unless you're a scientist with a chemistry lab at your fingertips, there's no real way of knowing. The gases you're sucking up through your nose could be slowly killing you: according to the World Health Organization, around two million people die prematurely from the effects of polluted air every single year. Air pollution is a huge problem—and not just for people living in smog-choked cities: through such things as global warming and damage to the ozone layer, it has the potential to affect us all. So what exactly causes this major environmental issue and what can we do about it? Let's take a closer look!…
There is no need to recount the litany of how serious the environmental problem. Just think of the gloomy sky and the bad air, and you will know how urgent it is to protect our environment. However, few people will react to it in actions. For instance, many people know that the increasing car use has generated various air pollution problems, but they prefer buying their own cars. Because they think cars are convenient and comfortable, they can go wherever they want to easily and quickly with their own cars. With the more and more cars, cars let out many exhaust gas. It is the greatest polluter. To solve the air pollution problem, people should aware the damage of the car exhaust and the government should increase the input to public transportation.…

I just came back from a business trip this weekend. It was the first time I worked as a “coordinator” for my company. I learned a lot and got “business culture shock” as well. I am not sure if there is the term in English. I just felt I was in another world that I had to speak another language and used another way of thinking especially in business meetings.…
