Pollution:
Pollution is the introduction of a contaminant into the environment. An undersized amount of a given pollutant in a small area may cause harm, but a superior amount of the same pollutant in a hefty area can be harmless. Economic activities were also pollution the air and water in most unborn areas. In some areas (mostly cities), factories released a lot of smoke it caused people to have trouble breathing. Air pollution is the buildup of hazardous substances into the atmosphere that puts humans in danger.
Unsafe Products:
Increased production meant that more products were available, but buying them wasn’t always good an idea. People who bought the products didn’t always know what was in it. They operated under the assumption that it was the consumer's duty to protect themselves against unfair business practices. After a while they started making their own poisonous chemicals, polluted air, automobile accidents, and defective products.
The Landscape:
When the 20th century began, economic actives had drastically changed the landscape. Farmers started to clear the trees and turn them into crops. Also, the loggers were cutting down large areas of woodland.
Workplace:
When the government wanted to start protecting the consumers, the muckrakers exposed the horrible working conditions. Around the 1900’s, unskilled work replaced and most killed manufactory jobs. Many of the workers found the jobs boring. They wanted more exciting things to do and make it worthwhile working there. Another thing is that, they wanted a bigger pay and when they wasn’t getting that and it horrible working there, they knew It was time to look for something better.
Slum life:
A slum is defined as a run-down area of a city. Also they lack in security, their house is messed up, and is squalor (dirty). There were a lot of urban places where the poor people lived. They called them places slum tenements. The poor were
