Pop Revolution The pop revolution changes throughout the years, each year there are new types of pop music. Pop music really just means popular music that tends to have an upbeat tempo and positive lyrics. Right now one pop idol that is labeled as a trend is Lady Gaga, but in the sixties it was the Beach Boys, and the Beatles. Pop music has affected America in a way that is almost incredibly, these chart topping hits influence most of America’s youth, therefore creating an immense impact on the many opinions of people that pop artists instill in America’s public, this kind of revolution is a great one, America is shaped by individuals who dare to be bold. The term pop song is first recorded as being used in 1926 in which a piece of music has popular appeal. Many events in the history of recording in the 1920s can be seen as the birth of the modern pop music industry, the term pop music is said to have originated in Britain in the mid-1950s as a description for Rock and roll and the new youth music styles that it influenced. The Oxford Dictionary of Music states that pop's earlier meaning meant concerts appealing to a wide audience since the late 1950s pop has had the special meaning of non-classical music, usually in the form of songs, performed by such artists as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, ABBA, Backstreet Boys, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and many more. Music is a form of self expression, the big deal with pop music is that many older generations do not like that pop music talks about drugs, sex, violence, gender discrimination, or youth revolt. Music is meant to let one express themselves and let others empathize with how that song connects to the listener by appealing to ethos. Although pop music sounds like a fad in the youth of America, it is a form of expression that has changed and shaped America. Lady Gaga released a song called, “Born This Way”, this song implies that it is ok to be different,
