Poppa Research Paper
I was born at 11:55 am on a Saturday in the Kern Medical Center on February 7, 2003. My mom and grandma were arguing about what my name was gonna be. My grandma said Mercedes (gosh what a horrible name), but my mom said, Breanna. They agreed but my grandma said Mercedes had to be in there somewhere, but my mom thought that was an ugly name ( which I agree with). I don’t know the rest after that but then that’s how I became Breanna Sadie Reyes. 6 months later I said my first word and it was Poppa. My mom wasn’t sure if I was trying to say Grandpa or Papas (potatoes), I guess will never know. Thursday, February 7, 2004, was my first birthday and I was obsessed with Winnie the Pooh, so obsessed that I took a picture of Winnie the Pooh holding a 1 in his hand and I was so happy. …show more content…
My mom and my step dad were talking about something and my mom said that I told her that I wasn't feeling good so I went upstairs in my mom's room. All I remembered was lying down and then all of the sudden just blacked out. From what my step dad and my mom saw was worse. My step dad was going to the room to get something when he saw me at the edge of the bed with my eyes rolled back and I was shaking like crazy. He yelled my mom's name and she rushed up the stairs, when she got there she said that I just looked passed out and she picked up my body and head off the ground and kept calling my name she said that I was squinting and trying to say yes. My step dad called the ambulance and they came. When I got to the hospital they ran tests on me to see what was going on. They told my mom it was meningitis. That week was the most horrible week of my life. I was having headaches, throwing up constantly, drowsiness, pain in my body etc., but it was thankfully the virus one and

It was back on August 24, 1995 at 9; 07 am when I brought into this world by Maria White-Dumas and Stanley. Their first born child then a minute later my twin popped out. Since that day I have been here in Atlanta, GA where I reside at 1978 Phillips Drive. There on my parents have made two additions to our family; my 15 year old brother Jahmal and my 12 year old brother Chris. I can honestly say my family is the greatest thing in the world. My mom is a Purchasing Agent for United Distributors, and my dad is an ISS teacher at King Middle School and South Atlanta High School’s Head Baseball and Softball coach. And with a family of all boys and crazy different personalities I have much respect for my parents for continuing to love us and put up with us. Then you have to move on……

The ER waiting room smelled stale. Sick babies and toddlers were crying, waiting to see a doctor. My brother was laying on the tan tiled hospital floor. He was shaking terribly as the antibiotics from the previous hospital wore off and the infection set in more. Both of his hands were red and swollen. His right hand, had a black mark from where the IV initially infected. His left hand was swollen to the size of a small balloon, kind of like a blown up rubber glove I used to get from the doctor when I was younger. My mom took her jacket off to cover him. His skin was hot to the touch but he was still freezing. His fever was 101.2 but there were no open rooms in the ER at our second attempt at a hospital. We had to get him antibiotics…

California Polytechnic State University was first established as California Polytechnic School on March 8, 1901. The school was renamed to California Polytechnic State College in 1947, but wasn’t officially known as California Polytechnic State University until 1972. The driving force that led to the founding of the school was a local journalist named Myron Angel. The school was established with the purpose of furnishing students of both sexes through mental and manual training in the arts and sciences. On October 1, 1903 the first classes were held and the school accumulated an enrollment of 20 students. In the first few years of its opening, the school offered a secondary level course of study that required three years to complete; however, in 1912 the amount of years required was increased to four years.…

On August 28th, 1998 I was born at Adena hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio. My parents named me Josie Dawn Hackney because of my grandpa and step-grandpa. Josie comes from Joseph and Dawn comes from Donald. I used to hate my name but when I found out when where it came from, then I realized how much it means to my mom now my name just kind of grew with me. I was a 7 pound 8-ounce baby and that is kind of big to be a 5-week early twin. Since I was brought home from the hospital, I have lived in Oak Hill, Ohio my whole life. It is not a bad place to live, but I prefer somewhere a little better.…

April 7th, 1999 is when I was born on Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. I only lived there for two weeks after I was born. While we were in South Dakota my parents had bought my cat Sadie. She is actually still alive to this day! My mom had told me that the night I was born the doctor had an emergency Cholecystectomy and came to check on us the next day wearing a gown and pushing his own IV poll. After living in South Dakota for a couple of weeks, we then moved to Indiana. We only lived there for a year and then moved to Missouri. I do not remember anything about living at those two places because I was only about a year and a half old. We only stayed in Missouri for a month then we moved to Illinois where my parents family lived, and also because my grandma was diagnosed with breast…

It was 2009 and I had been in sixth grade for a couple of months. I was on the phone with one of my friends from school when my mom called through my door for me to come out into the living room. I ignored her and kept talking for a few minutes when she called me out again. I rolled my eyes and told my friend I would call her right back. I walked into the living room and it seemed odd to me that both my sisters and dad were all out there too. I watched my mom take a deep breath with my dad by her side. As she began to speak her voice shook and gloss covered her eyes. “The doctors found a lump in my last mammogram.” she said. “It came back as cancer. I’m going to have to get treatment but I’m going to be okay.” No one else said a word, we all…

July 14th, 1931. I lie in my deathbed at 10:49 pm, thinking. It seems like just yesterday I was only five, with my whole life ahead of me. I remember my mother told me stories while I sat on her lap. She would make hot chocolate and I would listen to her talk. My favorite story always started the same way. On September 2nd, 1903, the day I was born. My mom went into labor a month earlier than expected, so it was a good thing that they already bought baby supplies. The only problem was my parents thought I was going to be a girl. My mother would laugh every time she spoke of this, but she always assured me afterwards that they both love me all the same, no matter who I turned out to be. They named me Lawrence Exeter, after my father. This was the last and only memory I have of my mom before she left us.…

My full name is Christina Kaysone Chantharavongsa and I was born March 23, 1995 in Bridgeport Hospital located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It was a little city and a small world since a ton of people would know each other. My parents were in an arranged marriage and were both moved to the United States from Laos during their high school years. But I’m actually half Laotian and Thai since my mom’s side is Thai from Thailand although she was born in an Asian Southeastern country called Laos. I’m the second oldest out of four children with two sisters and one brother. The order goes from Sarah, Christina (me), Kenny, and Anita. From my very first baby photo, I was described as a giant tomato because my face was red like one. My first words were like any baby can typically say: mama. Since my parents spoke mostly Laotian at home, saying mama would be “maeh” (Language Development). My infant years around 2 or 3, I was considered a curious one. I’d always liked to climb on top of chairs to see what were on the tables and I tended to dig through drawers to see what kind of items I would find in there then chew on it. My favorite thing to chew on was a Barbie doll ( Piagment, Sensorimotor stage). I was pretty clumsy as a toddler and my parents weren’t very affectionate towards me (Trust vs. Mistrust). I remember then until now we had strained relationships. If I did anything wrong or if any of my siblings did, they would hit us as punishment. Wooden spoons were usually used, getting our hair pulled, and getting the side of our face smacked or punched.…
