One could miss this tiny town with the blink of an eye. It is here one day I found Perkins Park a place giving me solace, and granting me the freedom to reflect on how life use to be.
Steeped in rich history dating back as far as 1875, Pacific Groove in itself is quite a sight to behold, with narrow streets, most running west to east and lined with Victorian Era cottages and homes numbering over a thousand. Pacific Palisades is a small, strange town. In rainy weather, the streets turn to a slippery, wet endless abyss of freshly paved blacktop. Succulent plants grow abundantly in front of the almost- mansions. The Palisades Park is near my house, and the whole community revolves around it. Somehow, the weather was good. The dogs were fluffy and cute. The cars were Mercedes and Porsche brands, but still not fast enough for their owners. The men are always dressed well and have good jobs. The women dress in yoga pants, and are often running, or doing Pilates. The people move quite quickly. They go shopping at Acaí Nation. The time goes by fast every day. Money is abundant, yet everyone is thriving for more in this technological and materialistic…

Have you ever heard of the book Where The Wild things are by Maurice Sendak? This book is very popular among children and adults. While I was researching and investigating Maurice Sendak, I found a lot of interesting facts about his life and accomplishments. Maurice Sendak was born on June 10, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York and died on May 8, 2012 (About). His Jewish family came to the United States from Poland and lost many members of their extended family due to the Holocaust. Maurice was a sickly child and had to spend a lot of time indoors. He spent a lot of time reading, drawing, and letting his imagination run free (goodreads). Maurice learned to love stories as a young child when his father told him embellished versions of Bible stories. At the age of twelve, Maurice became very inspired by the animated world of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia.” He was fascinated with Disney, particularly Mickey Mouse and the film Fantasia, which he saw when he was twelve and had a lasting effect on him. In 1948 he worked at FAO Schwartz as a window dresser while he took night classes at the New York Arts Students League.…
