the years passed the amendment no longer benefited anyone. More criminals were rising such Al Capone selling the alcohol in the dark, making nearly 60 million dollars made emphasizing the amount of money the government lost over the course of prohibition. Eventually this amendment was causing so much destruction that it led to the first repeal of an amendment. Fourteen years later the 21st amendment was issued to contradict the 18th amendment. For the first time in US history an amendment was canceled out. Although they acted it was too late, making the roaring twenties have a negative impact on society. The election of 1920 led to a corrupt political government, the president himself William G.
Harding was not corrupt but his friends and administration made deals on the side and stealing money from the federal government. Such friends accepted money in exchange to not prosecute criminals through the justice system such as attorney Harry Daugherty. Others like interior secretary Albert Fall stealing half a million dollars from private business’ in exchange for leases to government oil reserves. Fall was the first ever cabinet member to be convicted of felony leading to the Teapot Dome Scandal. With such an untrustworthy administration the United States was led into a stock market crashing allowing the roaring twenties to still disappointment the nation. Additionally money was one sided, affecting the less
fortunate. Riots increased throughout the 1920s due to the racism rising once again. Chicago 1919 a week of rioting between gangs of black and whites. With such segregation in motion it led to the Ku Klux Klan ascend again with 3 million members. Attacking immigrants from the south and east along with catholics and radicals. The emerging of segregation led to a patriotism organization, the amount of lynches increased throughout the years and death rates increased. The KKK allowed immigration to slow down, many terrified of the outcome remained in their home. The KKK was a major reason for the horrible years known as the roaring twenties. Although the Nation had lots of prosperities throughout the years 1918 and 1930 there were too many downsides. Ending with the market crash of 1929 all due to the negative impact of 18th amendment, the corruption of politics and the rise of a racist group. The United States was selfish ruining the rural areas. As the urban side prospered the rural area suffered through a pre-depression. The unequal distribution of money between the aristocracy and the lower classes allowed the people of the roaring twenties to suffer. They roared but in a negative way, impacting the nation with the greatest depression in history.
