For each of the correlational studies described below, decide whether the correlation is positive or negative and give two alternative explanations for each finding.…
Interpretation of Results and Conclusion: Since the P-value (0.001) is smaller than the significance level (0.05), we reject the null hypothesis. The p-value implies the probability of rejecting a true null hypothesis and is the area to the left of the z test. The significance level of 0.05, there is enough evidence to support the claim that the average annual income was less than $50,000…

a) The estimated of the elasticity of demand is -2.040, indicating that the demand for movie ticket is inelastic. Since the p-value (0.000) is less than, we can conclude that at 5% significance level, the price (which is the estimation of elasticity of demand) coefficient is not zero and that the elasticity of demand will lies between -2.689 and -1.391.…
The correlation coefficient (r value) is a quantitative assessment of the strength of relationship between the x and y values in a set of (x, y) pairs. The value of r is a measure of the extent to which x and y are linearly related or the extent to which the points in the scatterplot fall close to a straight line. The value of r is between -1 and +1. A value near the upper limit, +1, indicates a substantial positive relationship, whereas an r value close to the lower limit, -1,…
Correlation as a measure of association summary that involves testing relationships between two variables. The focus for the test will be based on the strengths of the association and the direction. According to Leedy and Ormrod, (2010) “A correlation exist if, when one variable increase, another variable either increases or decrease in a somewhat predictable fashion”. Relying on the differences of the results, and what will have some common result will help to determine the test using correlation as a measure of association summary.…
Personality traits may be important predictors of various health behavior outcomes. Two hypotheses are tested which examined the associations between emotional stability and substance risk. Emotional stability, a domain of personality that has received little research attention, was found to be a predictor of substance risk. The slight, positive statistically significant correlation becomes somewhat smaller when controlling for GPA. Thus, we conclude that GPA partially explains the relationship between emotional stability and substance risk. Overall, the results suggest that personality is a slight predictor of health behavior patterns.…

Statistics is the science pertaining to the collection and analysis of data. It is the refinement of the ambiguous, the distilling of truth from the crudest of resources. For this reason, it is necessary to discern the simplest path from Point A to Point B, disregarding any unnecessary data that may lie in the path. This, however, is easier in theory than in practice, and statisticians have developed various techniques to help differentiate between causation, a variable directly related to phenomena, and association, a variable who 's changes occur concurrently with the phenomena, and could be causal or non-causal.…

According to the test, we have relationships between 1) fruit and vegetables, 2) between baking needs and vegetables, 3) between frozen foods and vegetables, 4) between bread & cake and vegetables, and 5) between milk-cream and vegetables. The confidences of the relation are 0.75, 0.7, 0.69, 0.69 and 0.69 respectively. The confidence…
The Relationship Between Positive Adolescent Attitudes Toward Reading and Home Literary Environment Kelly Partin Bowling Green State University Cindy Gillespie Hendricks Bowling Green State University While factors known to positively affect attitudes toward reading have been investigated, the relationship between attitudes toward reading and home literary environments, particularlywith older students, needs to be more fully explored. This investigation focused on the nature of the relationship between high school students ' readingattitudes and the literary environment in which they were raised. 62 Reading Horizons, 2002, 43 (1) THE LITERARY DEVELOPMENT of adolescents is just as important and requires just as much attention as that of beginning readers.…
