on education and patient-centered environment.
This class has emphasized the important of health care shifting to patient-center practice as emphasized in AANP mission statement. A patient center environment would not have allowed a consent for treatment to be obtained without first providing the appropriate treatment options, benefits, risk involved. I feel the RN or MD should have discussed some post-partum concerns, instead of asking how you are feeling, especially involving a teenager. I was very disappointed that there was not discussion about her breastfeeding and lack of support, which she stopped shortly after that visit. As we move forward in our roles, we must remember to always provide patient-centered care and to provide education and health promotion on every clinical process.
