Will someone come to save them? The boys do not know if someone is ever going to rescue them from the island since no one knows that they are stranded there. The boys do not have cell phones to call for help so they have no way of contacting anyone. The only way for the boys to send a signal is with smoke from a fire. The boys continuously try to make fires for a ship, or a plane to see them, but they do not succeed in keeping the fire going. Ralph says, “Don’t you want to be rescued? I said before the fire is the main thing. Now the fire must be out—Hasn’t anyone got any sense? We’ve got to relight that fire. You never thought of that, Jack did you? Toward the end of the book, the boys have divided them selves into two separate halves. On one side there is Jack and his hunters, and on the other there is Ralph. Ralph has been warned that Jack and his tribe are setting out to kill him. Samneric say “Listen Ralph. Nerve mind what’s sense. —They hate you, Ralph. They’re going to do you.
