Power Lines In Ralph's Story
Power lines

“Power lines”, the surge of power, is a very good story to read; on the other hand, it's very confusing. For illustration, the first parts of the story were jumbled up, first it talks about basketball then it jumps to him staring at a grasshopper. However, even though it was confusing there was some meaning; to begin with, when the power lines surged it caused some buzzing noise that gave John, the main character, a headache because he was trying to concentrate on playing basketball but the surge cause that do fall of balance. This story helped me assimilate information but i learned one thing, if an individual is not thinking of anything that person is still thinking of something which is nothing. I would recommend this book

What is Ralph’s purpose in this story? How did the power lines distract your train of thought? I would like to know more about Ralph because he just appeared in the story then left after saying 5 phrases to John. However knowing anything about Ralph won't tell me anything about the “Power Lines” even if he said cousins knew a guy who knows a guy who knows about electricity. On the other hand, the other 2 questions would actually give me more detail about the story especially the first question.
The story was exceedingly confusing due to the jumbled up parts in the story. The majority were parts that changed the main topic of the paragraph. If the author went straight to the point it would of made a large amount of sense.
My group were also confused when they were reading this story. One of them said he probably passed out and started dreaming about a kid named Ralph and and the things in his bag, some said their might be a baby in Ralph’s bag. It made sense that John, the main character, may have passed out because he did say he had a headache due to the buzzing of the power lines when they surged. However, there is always that certain someone that throws everything off and I felt that this certain someone should be me, so I made some mumble jumble up. I told them, he probably started imagining someone was

I found the beginning of this book quite confusing. I had a difficult time discerning who the main characters were and what was the plot. I also wasn't quite sure when the Mother had died and it wasn't until later that I realized the reason that Carmen was present was because she had traveled home for her mother's funeral. However, once I got into the book and started to put the characters in context, I really began to enjoy it.…

This book was very different than anything I have ever read. I am still deciding whether I liked it or not. It was hard for me to follow because it kept jumping back in forth in time. The first three chapters I hap kept re-reading to focus and grasp what was going on. I was extremely confused and it went from the opening scene in 1931 to Milkman being four years old in one paragraph. I do feel this is a book you need to read over and over again to fully gain an understanding of the messages and symbols the author was displaying through each character. I thought the book was interesting that although it dealt with racial issues and focused on how characters such as Guitar and Milkman had different views of status and discrimination, their was very little mention of white characters in the book. The majority if not all the characters were black decent and it was purely one sided view on how the black race dealt with racial issues in a small town at that time. I think Pilate was a crazy character and I didn't like how long it dragged out to find the true nature of why her relationship was the way it was with her brother Macon Dead Jr. I feel like the author was changing the subject and jumping around so much that you never fully get to know any one character. I didn't like how the author killed Milkman in the end, it was as if you finally made some self discovery and then he jumps to his death. The book just builds and layers and builds, and when you finally feel like you might understand where it's leading three of the main characters die within the last pages. Aside from racial views and Milkmans self discovery from his life as his fathers son, to discovering his family history and where he wants to be in the future, I didn't really connect with any other character in the book, or understand their significance in his discovering…

Aside from the confusion I had, the only problem that I had with your novel was that it was a little slow in the middle. I understand that the book can’t be constantly moving at a fast pace, but I thought that there could be a minor, adventurous activity, where the book was sluggish. I only have that one critique for you and usually I have many more, therefore I think you did a tremendous job with this book. I think you should…

Through out this novel, a lot of tragic and powerful events transpire. They make the reader think quite a bit on what they have just read and after this, you tend to react. These events and occurrences are the main idea behind the story and they continue to constantly grab your attention and you keep you focused on what is going on in the novel. However, too many big impact and negative events take away from the story and it's traditional role of focusing on one major element through out the book. The reader is ceased of time to actually think about what has just happened, before something else suddenly does.…

The way the story is written is very straightforward. The author tells you exactly what is happening but still leaves enough room for your imagination to fill in the blanks. For example, when Chopin describes Louise's room with "the open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair" (page 378), and then goes on to describe what Louise sees outside, she tells us that our protagonist isn't living a bad life monetarily. Louise has a nice comfortable chair in her bedroom where she has a nice view of a square with trees and people.…

This story is outstanding! It shows how much can be said in just a few words and leaves so many blanks for the reader to fill in. Some may look at this as being lazy, to leave so much for the reader to figure out on their own, however, for someone to conduct a story in 55 words that make sense, that is total genus! These authors that create these masterpieces know that a lot of readers prefer to be more active as they read. They like to read between the lines, look underneath the text. These readers are very common and the authors know this, they know that their target audience are those who feel as if they are included in the writing process, that they get to decide what people look like and what they wear. They like to have the ability to make these decisions based upon the surrounding text, the information that…
