Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, is portrayed as powerful. In the Bible she is deceiving her husband to get Jacob the blessing instead of Esau. Jacob got tricked into marrying her, However he did not love her. Throughout the marriage, Leah feels unloved because Jacob loves her sister and not her. Noticing that she felt unloved, God blessed her womb. Leah gave birth to three sons, in hope that Jacob will start to love her, she thought "Now this time my husband will be joined to me because I have borne him three sons" (Genesis 29:34). In a way Leah was thought to be powerful because she was giving Jacob, kids, while his love Rachel was not able to. However, this is not the case, Leah might think that Jacob will love her, but he loves that she gave him children, not her. After the birth of each son, Jacob showed no love for her. Leah is seen as being powerless because she is seeking the love of a man who doesn’t love her. Throughout majority of her story in the Bible she is looking for a love that was never there to begin with, she had no power in her relationship with Jacob. She decided to give up on seeking for Jacob’s love, she seeked Gods. "When she gave birth to a son she said, 'This time I will praise the Lord'" (Genesis 29:35). In the End she still wished for the love of Jacob but focused more on worshiping God than trying to please
