Many myths and misconception are negative that stem from television. If I fail to detect and identify these mythes, then they can have negative impact on potential for a successful group. The third step is convey information such as confidentiality and stages. Confidentiality is a explicit agreement that what is said and what happens, it will stay in the group. This is primary concern among prospective group members and I need to stress the importance of confidentiality and also encourage prospective group member to to express there concerns about confidentiality so these concerns can be addressed directly. Every now and then confidentiality is violated intentionally or unintentionally, therefor as leader I would review possible ways of how confidentiality is can be violated at beginning of the group. I would also go over the ethical guide lines for group to make sure everyone is on the same page. I also must inform them that as leader, I can not absolutely guarantee the confidentiality, but also assure them that other member in groups share a commoner desire for confidentiality. It is important when during the pre-group screening to clearly explain the importance of confidentiality for group. Also while on this topic, I would explain the prospective group members their rights. In order to encourage open and active participation group members need to know the purpose, structure and ground rules. Because this is going to be a heterogeneous group and very diverse group over all, therefore it is common to have ethical issue in a group that can arise from many factor such as from cultural background, race, ethnic and cultural heritage, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, abilities, and religion and spiritual beliefs, and to valuing and respecting differences, these are just to name few. Ethical issues can take part from both sides from, from leader to a group member or member to member. For example, a member who has a lot in common with a leader and they always have such great conversations. One day the group member asks the leader to stay little longer because they have another issue that they would like to discuss and the leader is more likely to extend a session for them, compare to if someone else had asked. If another member would have asked the leader may have said “you know I would really like to hear more about it, so why don’t you write it down and we can go over during the next session.”
