They came up with an idea called checks and balances. James Madison wrote, “The three branches should not be so far separated as to have no constitutional control over each other.” Checks and balances were created to make sure each branch could check the others and have some involvement in the decisions of the other branches (Doc C). Some examples of the control they have are that, the President can nominate the judges, but the court can declare presidential acts unconstitutional. Congress can impeach the President, but the President can veto Congressional legislation (Doc C). This was a success in stopping the dominance of one branch over another, and checks and balances allowed each branch to have a say in final…

This system was I will show examples of how this system works, such as the legislative branch overrides the executive by overriding the president’s veto. The executive branch can override the legislative branch because the president can veto congressional legislation. Executive over Judicial by the president being able to nominate the judges. The Judicial over executive by the court being able to declare presidential acts unconstitutional. The Judicial over the legislative by the being able to declare laws unconstitutional. Congress over the courts because the senate confirms the president’s nominations, congress can impeach judges and remove them from office. If you search up a picture of the Checks and Balances system you will then see how this system balance each other out. When one speaks of checks and balances in government you must understand what is really being asked. It is simply a system set up of the three branches of government that can either amend or veto an act of another branch as to prevent any one branch from having too much power over the other. Is this system effective? Over time, the Constitution has been interpreted and amended to adapt to changing circumstances, and the powers exercised by the federal government have changed with it. For instance because the federal government can influence the states it has the right to withhold federal funds from the states that do not want to go along with their plans whatever they maybe. Because the government can only exercise those powers specifically granted by Constitution, it is important to…

The Bill of Rights has a long history entangled with that of the American Constitution. The first Congress has achieved more than any other congress in American history, they not only have the credits of a successful organization of the government, of law, administration, and defense but the enactment of the American Bill of Rights. The original Constitution of 1787 contained several provisions of major significance for civil liberties, however did not contain a specific bill of rights. This failure to incorporate a bill of rights by the framers of the constitution was not a sign of resentment or lack of concern to the rights of man, but rather their certainty that particular guarantees of rights was unnecessary. However this did not satisfy some states, who deeply demanded for solemn assurances that the new government would not consent to exercise tyranny, therefore a debate between the Federalist and Anti-Federalist began.…
